Hotel Villino Gallodoro

My wife and I went for a meal here just sharing a Lasagne between us. We had a glass of white wine and Rossi. We initially wanted to eat inside as it was cold but the waiter manager should us a room that was not set up. So we sat outside.The food arrived and we cut into it and found it to be tepid. We called a waiter over who did not apologise just took it away. The food came back but not a fresh piece of lasagne our origanal all mashed up and still not heated sufficiently. They also brought out a basket with three pieces of sliced bread which they charged us 5 euros for. No apology nothing. As we left I said to the manager you won’t be seeing us again and he hunched his shoulder. We have suggested to people we met to avoid this place, lovely view but disgraceful treatment of customers.

The hotel rooms and bathroom very small, hotel in a bad condition. Hotel is no longer of this time, mattress very hard. Breakfast incomplete, evening dinner terrible, never eaten a bad pizza as her. Parking place terrible, very small and very inconvenient. We parked the car somewhere else, nearby (2 minutes walk) a very big parking place, was even cheaper than the parking place in the hotel. Every where they had made rooms, not yet in the broom closet, maybe next time!!!! We booked a room with a view, the view was a big wall and downstairs the garbage of a restaurant or such

The location of the hotel is absolutely unbeatable, with the views over the bay just making it feel quite magical, especially for sunrise or sunset. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was useful that there was onsite parking, though there was an extra fee for this. The breakfast was outstanding, especially by Italian standards, but really a very good range of breakfast options and out on the balcony with a gorgeous view over the bay. On the down side, The bedroom was small and the bathroom was really tiny. One morning there was no water pressure at all in the shower, which was annoying, but this was resolved the following day. However the size of the bathroom was really not very good, we thought - it was quite difficult to take a shower comfortably in such a narrow cubicle. That said, I think we got the smallest room in the place, as we were only there for two nights, and other rooms seemed to be larger, so it is worth asking for a larger room! The restaurant at the hotel (for lunch and dinner) was ok, but nothing special in my opinion, food-wise. The breakfast was definitely the best in terms of food. However, overall, I would still definitely recommend this place, as it was so well located and the views just so beautiful, as well as the person on reception being very helpful. Also only a 5 minute walk to the cable car up to Taormina, which was a really fun experience in itself and afforded some amazing views on the way up!
