"This is a great guesthouse with onsen. I love it . There’s an open onsen & close onsen privately .
That’s a nice kitchen & dining room. You may buy from the guesthouse to cook on your own. Such as instant noodles. Very well organised. Thanks."
"There are fewer restaurants near the hotel. You can go to the hot springs when you stay in the hotel. Although the facilities are very old, it is really comfortable to soak in the soup after hiking! ! The front desk does not speak English but the service attitude is very good, it is still very recommended"

"We took the Ryujin Bus and arrived at Kamimota. It was not yet check-in time, but the hotel lady was already waiting at the door. Serve warm tea, introduce the hot spring time, ask about meal time, and carefully prepare for dinner in the room. After the meal, we made the bed and asked thoughtfully about the time for the next day's morning service and the time for the bus to leave. The whole process was considerate. It was very cold outside when we left, and the hotel lady asked us to wait in the hotel until the bus came to the door. When we left, he said goodbye to us warmly and waved until we left. The hot springs here are very good, the food is delicious, and the experience is great."
"Although the location is relatively remote, the boss service is good, the spring quality is super good, it is a hot spring hotel that can be visited again."
"The second time I lived, the last time was 8 years ago, the facilities were still clean and not significantly old. There is still the hospitality of traditional Japanese-style hotels. The hot springs are still good, and it is a relatively new hotel near the Dragon God."
"The room is not big, but it has everything, very convenient. The big brother at the front desk was very good. He asked me about my itinerary and told me how to take the bus. After all, there are only a few bus trips a day in this mountain. It is very troublesome to miss it. There is a single bathing pool, and there is no one when I go, hahaha. so cool. The only downside is that the location is too remote. It took two hours for the bus to arrive, in a valley where people are inaccessible. People who like to walk and like people are inaccessible are very good here."
"Amazing service from the moment we arrived to the date of our departure. Staff is very attentive. Food is amazing and presented well. Location is serene and a great change from the big cities. Rooms are perfect and just the type of Japanese village rooms and decor we were hoping for."
"It is located in the countryside of Tanabe but the transportation is relatively convenient. This hotel is a member of the Secret Hot Spring Guardian Association, and the water quality of the hot spring is very good. The waiters were all local elderly people, and my lovely mother-in-law came to talk to me with a translator during dinner. The food is not luxurious, but it is still quite traditional and authentic Japanese home-cooked food."

GGuest UserA great place if you’re open to cooking some food yourself. Yes, the dinner options are basically non-existent, but that really doesn’t matter if you’re open minded and willing to do something yourself. My partner and I walked for 8 hours and were exhausted when we arrived, but we still decided to get some food from the shop across the road (very nearby!!) and cook. It ended up being a lovely way to end the day which also surprised us. We sat atop our container-home and looked to the mountains as we ate our food.
The room has everything you need other than knives and maybe more options for plates, but it’s doable. Everything is compact but that’s part of the charm, and it’s really quite incredible how they organise the entire room.
The only issues we encountered were the lack of knives (only one chef’s knife, no normal knives for spreading butter etc), and the plates, but no other issues.
The lack of staff to talk to face to face can be a bit of a shock to people, but it’s all about your own attitude to trying it out, as this isn’t a hotel where you can get anything you want just by asking. You can ask, but it’s all done via a couple of iPads. Just be prepared and keep an open mind. If you do that, this might be one of the most comfortable and personal stays you’ll have.
GGuest UserThere were various open-air baths, and you could choose the type and time, which was 40 minutes or so, so it was a very good hot spring. I stayed for multiple nights, but was busy working on my computer all day, so I was only able to go to the front desk on the first day of check-in and was disappointed that I couldn't make a reservation for the hot spring. The staff were cheerful and kind, and if there was anything I needed, they would casually let me know, and they were all wonderful staff. It was neither a business hotel nor a bustling tourist hotel, and the furnishings and the interior of the hotel were old, but it was not just old, it was a hotel with a sense of charm. The staff also seemed like hoteliers.
GGuest UserA great family hot spring hotel. I originally planned to book the Green House Shanshui Hotel, but later I found out that this hotel was much cheaper and had great reviews. Take the bus directly from Hongu Taisha Shrine. You can walk 300m from Yukawa Onsen or get off at the next stop (Picture 8), which is closer. The boss speaks English very well and has no problem communicating. The house is very clean. There are two private hot springs where you can take a bath. You can dig a wild hot spring at the door. You can easily grab a shovel, swimming ring and slippers. There is a large restaurant on the first floor. I forgot to make a reservation for dinner, so I ordered a meal at last minute. It was very delicious and reasonably priced, especially the bear bison, which you must try.
GGuest UserConvenient location near the railway station, but the trains do not disturb you - you can't hear them in the hotel. New, comfortable, spacious rooms. Excellent breakfast, there is a self-service laundry (washing machine and dryer). There are many cafes and shops nearby, the sea is a 10-minute walk away. On Sunday mornings there is a farmers' market by the sea
TTrissySince mu friend and I did a hiking trip, we walked to this accommodation. I think it would be better to drive or taking bus to there instead of walking. I really appreciate the outdoor onsen. The hotel is very close to the bus stop that taking us to our next hiking point, just a few minutes walk. There are some attractions nearby, like the big figure hanging on the bridge. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit them. If you’re staying here, you should arrive earlier and take a look at the surroundings. The front desk staff can speak Mandarin. So if you are a Chinese, you will find it easier to communicate. The hotel is very clean, because you need to change shoes everywhere.
WWEIWENTypical Japanese hot spring hotel. The bathing area is outside the hotel, and many Japanese people drive over. The open-air bath in the bath is very large, with 5 pools for men's baths and 4 for women's baths. The hotel has 4 family baths, which are free for hotel residents. Hotel guests have two keys, one is the door to the house, and the other is to open the family door. The hotel has a free shuttle bus from Shirahama Station. There is also a free shuttle bus to Kumano Hongu Taisha. The one-park-two-food set meal is quite satisfactory. Because the hotel is located in the mountains, there is nothing around it, so it can only bubble soup at night.
PPablo CGood Onsen style hotel with sea view near to Kii-Tanabe station (very convenient if you will start a walking rout of Kumano Kodo starting from Kii-Tanabe).
The hotel is a little bit old fashion but every corner of the room and public spaces were in very good conditions.
Just be careful because there is some rooms with private toilet but with shared shower/bath, considering that is a Onsen style hotel (we booked a twin room with private toilet but we never image that the bath/shower was shared in the Onsen facilities).
LLISALIVery old-fashioned hotel, the door is still opened by a key. The hot spring is great, you can enjoy the outdoor hot spring. Dinner and breakfast are super nice, the service is very comfortable. It drizzled in the morning, sitting by the window to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains. The bus was very crowded in the morning when we left this stop, and the hotel brother quickly drove us to the next stop. There were backpackers who were climbing the mountain, and we squeezed the most crowded bus in the past 20 years to go down the mountain to Hayatama Taisha.
AAnonymous UserIt is very close to the station, and you can even connect to the wifi in the room at the station (
A long history, but well-equipped, clean and tidy
The boss is also very nice, and the stay is very happy
GGuest UserYou can see the Sanshuikan when you get off the Kawayu Onsen Station. You need to walk a little further to Matsuya. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and checked me in quickly. The room is not big, you need to make the bed yourself. I didn't look carefully at the bedding, but it was comfortable to sleep. The bathroom has a toilet and a small basin, but no shower. There is a river outside the window. Half board 700+, green house open-air hot spring, high cost performance
