Takiyoshi

This modern guesthouse had it's own onsen and a lift to rooms on the higher floors. Our spacious room was traditional Japanese. There are no ensuite facilities, the toilets in Japan are exceptionally clean, and the shared basin area was always available when needed. We slept well. The property has its own Onsen, which was very welcome after a day of hiking, as was their icy cold beer. The Youmine ancient onsen, the oldest hot spring in Japan, is across the road. Our evening meal and breakfast were fresh and delicious japanese food served in the dining room. Our host's English was limited, but with the help of Google translator, they went out of their way to help us explore wet weather options if needed. Our forwarded luggage had a handwritten note thanking us for our stay. We would definitely stay at Takiyoshi again if we return to Tanabe.

This was our favorite place to stay along the Kumano trail. We appreciate the great hospitality, renovated rooms, delicious meals, and great hospitality. We forgot our hiking poles and the owner kindly brought them to our destination, saving us a several hour journey to get them back. They have a toddler, so we are sorry for the inconvenience and grateful for their assistance! Top choice!

The inn is cared for by a young couple with a toddler. We enjoyed the excellent meals and wonderful facilities . The inn is Japanese style with Tatami mats, and we shared a bathroom . It is extremely private toilet for women separate from men. The Onsen is used for bathing and hot soaking. There are slippers for entering the hotel , another for the bathroom . Fun and comfortable.
