The staff at Le Meridian could not have been better or nicer! They were incredibly friendly and helpful….a big shout out to LaLithia at the front desk who was awesome and helped us upon check-in. The glass of complimentary sparkling wine upon check-in is a nice touch. The complimentary coffee in the lobby from 6 am until noon is also a nice and appreciated touch. Our room was very spacious and very clean. I am giving my review a 4 start vs 5 star because of the room decor and, quite frankly, the hotel (hallway decor) as well. Whoever was in charge of interior design should be fired! Our room was incredibly depressing because EVERY wall except the entry hall was painted a DARK gray. The carpet (new at least) was also a DARK gray. The bathroom was ….guess what….a DARK gray. Because the hotel is a converted old court house, the ceilings are high and made of cement so there is no recessed lighting (understandable). BUT, there wasn’t even a floor lamp in our room. It was SO DARK and DEPRESSING. Needless to say, we felt we were living in a CAVE. When you stay at an upscale hotel for a getaway or mini vacation, you expect to feel happy and uplifted. The decor did just the opposite. In addition, our room was lacking ANY seating area other than the bed and a desk chair (at bar height to match the bar height desk). It was CLEARLY MISSING a couple of comfortable occasional chairs. We called the front desk as soon as we walked into our room and requested a couple of chairs. They brought us 2 stacking chairs. I guess it was the best they could do under the circumstances but they certainly weren’t comfortable chairs that one would want to relax in. Also, the TV was very small given the size of the room and the distance from the bed to the TV. As for my reference to the hotel decor, and specifically the hallways, Marriott fell so far short in making this hotel what it COULD be given its unique history and architecture. When you walk down the hallways the bottom half of the walls have old marble (a nice touch and vestigial feature of the court house) BUT the top half of every wall is BARE. It is just COLD and lacks ANY sign of nice decor. Why wouldn’t they line these hallways with old, framed photos of court houses, court rooms, judges, etc???? Or old photos of Tampa? Or have a local artist paint murals on these walls? Ironically, the hotel gives its guests free passes to the Tampa Art Museum but whoever designed the interior space didn’t bother to include ANY artwork in the hallways. And the “artwork” in our room consisted of a few ugly, random cheaply framed posters. You might think that I am overly critical….after all, as I said, the staff was lovely and responsive and our room was spacious, quiet and clean. BUT, because our room was just so DARK and DREARY and DEPRESSING we wanted to minimize the time we spent at this hotel.

The hotel is a little confusing to get into as far as parking wise. Amenities are fair. The room was clean. One drawback I can mention, is the hotel is located right on the train tracks. You can hear the train running all throughout the night. The train runs the horn so be prepared if you plan on staying here, to hear the train. A second drawback was the thermostat in the room. Yes the thermostat. Why? The one in our room literally illuminated the entire room. It was as bright as a blue fire. I am sure like many of us adults like to sleep in the dark. No this literally was shining so bright you could read a book by the light. I would recommend to dim them for the customers prior to entering the room. Oh we also had some noisemakers in our room next door. Had to call downstairs to let them know that it was time for rest. This hotel is located in a party town. So assuming you like to party, it would be good for you.

It is the second time I have stayed at this hotel the first time the experience was negative, since the room was full of cockroaches, in the refrigerator there were like 5 dead cockroaches as well as the microwave, it was obvious that there were never cleaning areas, the Dirty sheets from the previous guests, since they had not changed it, at that time I submitted the complaint to reception and the excuse they gave me was that the cleaning staff was new and the receptionist moved me to a cleaner room. I wrote a letter to the hotel with the photos, they apologized for what happened and told me to give them the opportunity to stay at the hotel again to change the negative image I had about it. Now the location is excellent, the discount on the ”Choice Hotel” membership is cheap that is the only thing I can say is good, because the reception service was not pleasant on this occasion, the receptionist was very rude and had an attitude. They demand a mask and I clarify that I had my mask, but they don't use it. Again I had a very bad experience with my assigned room. The cockroaches continue in the rooms, a dirty glass in the laundry area, I don't know if it was beer or urine, because I wasn't going to touch it, the hand wash was dirty and with hair on the counter and the floor, in addition to That, the handwash was covered, if I used it the water was soaked. I worked for many years in hotel chains such as Marriots and Holiday Inn, I never saw anything like it. He could not spend more time in this depressing place, very disappointed. And with this condition of the Covid-19 worse. I hope that you as the manager will take action on the matter or I will see this hotel closed very soon, when it is impeded by the health department.

The worst Marriott that ever existed. Do not stay here. Ever. I don't have a good thing to say about this hotel. The staff is rude and unhelpful. I tried to check in for a 5 night stay at 9:30PM and my room wasn't even ready (check in is at 3PM by the way, and I'd had the reservation for weeks). No caffeinated coffee in the room and after I asked for coffee to be brought up to the room, no coffee was ever brought. The room phone didn't even work for me to call reception. I then accidentally left 3 shirts hanging in my hotel room closet and called at 11AM, within hours of checking out, to find them and talked to the manager Savannah who promised me housekeeping would call me that day -they never called. I called back at 5PM and spoke to a gentleman who claimed to not have access to the housekeeping closet to look for the shirts and to call back the next morning at 8AM. The next day when I called, the manager Savannah stated, 'we can't find them, there were no shirts in the room.' I informed her yes they were 100% in the room, I do not have them. She was mean and rude and when I stated what the nighttime manager told me the night before, she said 'That's a lie.' So, calling me a liar. Repeatedly saying, 'Sorry YOU left YOUR shirts in the closet, they weren't there.' So, apparently housekeeping or someone threw out or accidentally took my shirts. She never once apologized until I asked for an apology. This is awful treatment someone who is supposed to be the manager, the leader of the hotel, can give to a guest. This hotel is a shame to the Marriott family. Sadly my shirts were 'never found' which Savannah claims is 'my fault for leaving them in the room because she is not responsible.' I was promised hotel points for compensation (which I haven't received yet...) after I had to beg and plead for something to be given and point out what an awful experience this is as a guest and how as a manager she has handled this situation poorly every step of the way. Do not stay here. Ever.
