Once of the better hotels if you plan to stay overnight in this region. Very close to the town of Matmata this is in a deserted village of Tamezret. Rooms are tastefully done up and ethnic but tiny. They have a small Tower that gives you a 360 degree view of the area. There is a cafe but meals might need to be booked in advance. The staff are pleasing and my stay was pleasant.

WOW. Dar Ayed was easily my favorite experience during my 2 week stay in Tunisia. My friends and I arrived in the evening after a long day of driving through the desert. Arriving at Dar Ayed was like arriving at a beautiful gem of an oasis in the middle of the desert. The rooms are soo huge and spacious and the interior detailing is authentic and beautiful. I couldn’t stop taking photos. The staff is so kind and made us feel so comfortable and at home. They were there for anything we needed. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious and some of the best we’ve had in our entire stay in Tunisia. They source all their food locally from their small farm and from the nearby towns of Tamezret and Matmata which is something I really loved. The pool is also so beautiful with a view of the vast desert surrounding. The location is perfect to explore Douz, Matmata, and even the Berber museum is just walking distance away. I really cannot wait to be back here soon :)

We felt very spoiled at this guesthouse. Arriving later in the afternoon, we settled in then went for a swim in the pool. Dinner was included and was an authentic Berber meal. Our host explained what each dish was. Outdoor patio dining. Rooms were small but had what we needed. AC, shower. No in-room safe or mini fridge and wifi was sporadic, but the setting more than made up for it. Wake up to sheep and duck sounds.

Charming accomodation with beautiful views, great staff and food and cute rooms. We loved the intimacy and the genuineness of the place. Fantastic for an analogue get away or to experience authentic Tunisian hospitality.

Probably the Best place we have attended during our journey. The staff was very kind and helpful, always available to give advises. The bedrooms were confortable, and sweetly decorated. I enjoyed it. The pool was clean and the view on hills was Wonderful. Not so far from Douz. I won't miss any opportunity to come back.

Words fall short of describing this place. Carved out in the rock, this resort is by far the best we have experienced in Tunisia in all aspects be it Location (overseeing the Sahara desert), rooms (carved in the rock, giving a feel of living like Cavemen. and the Service of one individual that makes all the difference. He was passionate about what he did and that is why the service levels were high at this place. A must stay at this place.

We always visit this enchanting spot nestled at the edge of the Sahara desert, in the iconic Berber village of Tamazaret. The staff are attentive, kind and welcoming. The food is some of the best in the region. Our family adores coming. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the decoration showcases the best of local artisans and the location is breathtakingly beautiful. It is one of our favourite places in the country.
