The chicken racing at the back is wonderful and Ben is a very talented comedian. Tambo is a very good country town and a middle stop between Mount Isa and Brisbane.

Was meant to stay the night here after having a room booked through wotif by my company. Arrived to be greeted by a rude and totally unprofessional owner Ben i believe who was more interested in serving others there than dealing with my reservation at around 7pm. The guy appears to have a serious alcohol or substance abuse problem. Cancelled my booking after being increasingly rude and arrogant to me. Must admit after a10hr day on the road I did say (are you furking serious) and then he threatened me. Said if I had of said that to one of the female staff he would have taken me out the front!! Honestly took a step back and found other arrangements for the night. Apart from that other staff there seemed very friendly, place had a good vibe and meals looked ok. Stay at your own risk, this guy is a loose wire!!!!!!

We stopped here 4/7 for drinks: a ginger ale and a lemon lime and bitters from the hose was $15.50 (non alcoholic) Wasn't offered bottled ones.

Very ordinary pub, lacks air conditioning , food was less than ordinary, tough meat ordinary veggies, 2 dogs in bar hovering over for food , not recommended at this time of year, staff not enthusiastic at all, maybe better during chook races ? Tavern up the road breath of fresh air and good service and air conditioned

Food was very ordinary vegetables stewed old not fresh chicken ok , we will return for the chicken races but not a meal also we asked for a particular drink only to be given some cheap version no to that also , do not recommend for dining , shame they seem to drop the ball at this establishment

Old but neat and tidy. Hopefully the young owner can keep being busy with all the things he is doing and spend some money upstairs, as it could be stunning. Shared facilities, but it's as advertised, sad to see others making a thing of this, it's a pub stay, as long as it's clean and fun. Staff excellent, musicain a bonus, food great

Stayed in the rooms, very basic but clean and tidy. Whole building needs some love, but you can see they are having a crack. Meals 10/10, staff 100/10. Live Music and Chicken Races a blast. More pubs need to be like this! The doggos were so friendly, they were part of the show how good they were!

The chook races were awesome, great interaction by everyone, proceeds support children charity. We had the best chat with Ben the publican and staff later afterwards. Meals and accommodation brilliant. This is what outback hospitality is all about.

Quaint pub that has a good atmosphere We had the bangers and mash which was nicely cooked and plenty to eat Drink prices reasonable - we had beer plus wine with dinner A bonus is musical entertainment adding to the night. There is no charge to get in Two large friendly dogs wandering around
