We just returned from a week at this wonderful hotel. We were there from November 8-15. We stayed in a Superior Room with a terrace. The room was perfect...very large with a king bed, nice sitting area, a large counter, refrigerator & coffee maker. The air conditioner worked well and was quite quiet. The bathroom was beautiful...large with a nice walk-in shower, plenty of counter space and shelves and closet space for clothing. When sitting on our terrace, we felt like we were in a jungle. We could watch monkeys climbing through the trees right from the lounge chairs on our terrace. All of the staff members were wonderful. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a lot of options. We ate several other meals there as well, and they were all excellent. The beach area was beautiful, with plenty of lounge chairs, as was the pool area. The location of this hotel was perfect, in our opinion. A little out of town, so it was quiet, but only about a 10 minute walk into town. We did not have a car and never needed one. We walked into town every day and ate at several restaurants outside of the hotel. We flew into Liberia and it was about 1-1/2 drive from the airport to the hotel. We are already talking about going back to Costa Rica and would definitely stay here again.

We had a fantastic vacation at this property. We had a beachfront room that was huge and spotless. There was a living area which led to a veranda with outdoor seating and a hot tub. The bed was comfortable and there were always plenty of towels. The beach was just steps away. The town is a short walking distance from the property and can be accessed by the road or beach. We were told that it’s safer to go by the road at night. Kaylor at the bar made delicious cocktails and always had a smile. Breakfast was included and there was a decent assortment or items as well as a chef making omelets. We were told that there were some howler monkeys around the property, but we didn’t see any. We did see some further down the road though. I had a massage at the spa. Marta was amazing! The hotel doesn’t have any evening bands but we entertained ourselves in town. I would go back in a heartbeat!

My husband and I stayed at Capitan Suizo for the last leg of our honeymoon, and it was perfect! The grounds are gorgeous, you really can't beat the beachfront access and vibrant wildlife all around. The staff are amazing - genuinely kind, laid-back, thoughtful people who are a joy to be around. They made us feel right at home and well cared for, with great recommendations for the area. Special shoutouts to Kaylor, Cristobal, Oscar, and Tom! Tamarindo is known to be a touristy, party beach town, but Capitan Suizo is set just far enough away from the main ***** that you still get all the peace and quiet you need, within walking distance of the party vibes if you want it. Definitely a great choice for the best of both worlds :)

What a fabulous hotel in a great location with amazing staff.. just beautiful… from check in to the rooms.. to the beach.. to the bar and restaurant and all of the staff.. and I mean all of them… a big smile every time from every single one of them. I’d go back in a heart beat

Capitán Suizo is surrounded by tropical gardens and howler monkey calls. Staff were warm and attentive. The restaurant’s ceviche and drinks outshone town spots at fair prices. Infinity pool, beach spa, and direct sand access sealed the bliss.

This is my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica! The gardens are gorgeous. We stayed in a bungalow this time and it was beautiful as always. The restaurant has delicious food at reasonable prices. You also have the option of eating out on the beach. I love the people there and many of them have worked There for many years. It’s like family!

Beautiful spot, far enough away from the Tamarindo to benefit from quiet and calm, close enough to walk to bars and restaurants. Staff were very welcoming and the rooms were lovely. And we still saw some Costa Rican wildlife close by.

Gorgeous hotel tucked among lush greenery - grounds are beautiful and meticulously kept. Staff were warm and welcoming, rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The beach is wide and easily walkable - many restaurants and fun bars within walking distance , although the hotel restaurant is excellent and we enjoyed our dinner there as well. They have very comfortable chaise lounges set up facing the beach, as well as dining tables outside which make for a magical dining experience under the stars. Highly recommend this hotel, and we look forward to returning soon.

I posted my review on Google and reposting on here to further share: I stayed at Capitan Suizo with my two sons (ages 7 and 11), and we were blown away by the warmth and care we received. By day one, the entire staff knew our names. Raúl, the manager, anticipated our needs before we could even ask, and Yerling arranged an unforgettable (and totally worth-it) fishing and tubing tour with Willy from Tamarindo Discovery Tours. Max helped us celebrate my son’s 8th birthday in the most thoughtful way—gathering staff to sing and having the band play “Happy Birthday.” The restaurant team became like family—the bartender kept the kids happy with icy lemonades, and Tom, who we met on day one, was a daily friendly face who even helped with our picky eaters. Capitan Suizo is a beautiful, Swiss-owned boutique hotel that blends warm hospitality with personalized service. A beachfront surf school is just steps from the property, and the town of Tamarindo is an easy 10-minute walk or a $4 Uber away. Capitan Suizo isn’t just a hotel—it’s a community that made us feel truly at home.
