Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel

The hotel is located in a vast garden connected to the Nabeshima clan, where you can enjoy seasonal flowers and autumn leaves. A few years ago, it was renovated and expanded to include sauna facilities at Rakan no Yu. In addition to the soft hot springs, there are various saunas and rest areas, including many saunas. Unfortunately, on New Year's Eve 2022, the wood sauna hut caught fire and was closed to the public. In collaboration with teamLab, light art was permanently installed, creating an extraordinary feeling. It was a hotel where you could just enjoy the food and service.

When I entered the entrance, there were many lamps. The sudden overwhelming force of the light was the only word that came to mind. I was given a yellow wristband at the front desk and headed to the large bath. Since it was morning, I usually use the women's bath. As I walked down the corridor leading to the large bath, the certificates for SAUNACHELIN 2019, 2020, and 2021 were displayed. Will they be able to win it again in 2022? There are lockers with keys in the changing room, which is also considerate for day-trippers. The hair dryer and shampoo are also luxurious. I headed to the building of the firewood sauna. I took a slightly thick towel mat, which was custom-made by Imabari Towel, and went inside. #Firewood sauna 85 degrees (from the pamphlet) The dark room had no clock and was quiet. The sound of water dripping into the loyly buckets from time to time resonated in my heart. There were stairs, and I sat on both sides of them. When I reached the highest point, I could see the sauna stones. Then, looking down, I could see the firewood. And behind the large amount of sauna stones was glass. It was an incredibly durable glass. According to the guide, this wood-fired sauna room is a sustainable space that makes use of the blessings of nature and local resources. Apparently, thinned wood from the outskirts of Takeo is used as firewood, and old stones from Mifuneyama are used as sauna stones. After 5 minutes in the sauna while watching the wood fire, sweat runs down my back like a waterfall. Then I try a loyly. It's quite difficult. If you succeed, you'll be hit by an intense heat wave. I could only do 6 minutes per set. In the end, I did 6 sets of 6 minutes that day. #Cold bath 17 degrees (from the pamphlet) There is a cold bath just outside the sauna room. It is 100 cm deep and cooled to 17 degrees, but it felt a little colder to me. The water is drawn from the source of Takeo Onsen, so you can feel the nature. #Kugelsauna This is my first sauna experience. I take a kugel (aroma) out of the freezer with tongs and place it on the sauna stones. There are not just one type, but several types. After 1-2 minutes, the kugel melts and the aroma of the aroma comes out. This sauna is good for women who don't like hot saunas. #Rest room Homemade pudding, detox water, and tama yokan are provided. The outdoor bathing break really allows you to become one with nature. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hours and 30 minutes. This is the best sauna facility I've ever been to. I want to come again.

I made a reservation for the sauna for a day trip. It wasn't cheap, but I think it was worth going. There was a separate lounge for men, so I was able to relax even more. However, as many people have said, I was a little skeptical about the service. The front desk spoke so fast that I couldn't understand anything they said. If they were busy, I would have liked them to increase the number of people so that we could have a more comfortable stay. After all, it's a hotel, so I wish they would do a better job in that regard.
