The service was excellent. I especially want to praise the front desk lady that day, because we lost something at the previous hotel the night before, and the hotel's telephone customer service could only speak Japanese, so we couldn't communicate. The front desk lady of this hotel was very patient in helping us. It took up a lot of his time, but she was always very enthusiastic. The hotel also offers indoor and outdoor hot springs, and the restaurant in the hotel also serves good food. The breakfast in the morning was also delicious with a lot of variety. It was a very pleasant stay experience.

Stay at Hanajoan Main Building, which is known as the No.1 hot spring in the mountains. (Opened in 1993) Free cars will pick you up from the bus station or high-speed rail station. A welcome drum will be played in the lobby upon check-in, and snow boots will be thoughtfully prepared for guests to wear when going out. The lobby is filled with dolls arranged like a mountain, with a strong Japanese style. The room has an open-air bath and a small study room (unfortunately, people who come to take a bath probably don't have time to use the study room. There is Ishibashi no Yu on the first floor of the main building, a viewing bath on the 7th floor of the annex, and a bath for women only. Dinner is Japanese and Western. Choose Japanese food, it's delicious and filling. The double room comes with 4 store exchange coupons, which can be exchanged for 2 cans of Alpine milk and 2 ice creams.

The service was impeccable and we felt welcome when reaching the hotel. They have staff stationed near the hotel to guide guests to the entrance, we got a pleasant surprise upon entering the hotel. The location is superb, the old town is just opposite the hotel. Easy to navigate around the area with 2 morning markets nearby. We were also satisfied with the dinner and breakfast served, good variety and delicious.The only thing I hope could be improved is the female bath as there is only 1 bath which is not big, can get crowded when there are many guests.

I also opted for the breakfast buffet (¥1000 per person), which offered a delicious start to each day. The friendly front desk staff spoke excellent English, making check-in a breeze. A particularly nice touch was the welcome drink coupon, redeemable for a refreshing beer or soft drink at the self-service bar – a perfect way to unwind after a journey. The rooms at Wat Hotel & Spa are spacious and comfortable, featuring well-appointed bathrooms with excellent shower facilities. The hotel's onsen, located on the top floor, is a true highlight. The private onsen is available on a first-come, first-served basis, offering a relaxing and intimate experience. Simply lock the door, and the space is yours to enjoy. This hotel exceeded our expectation! It is very near the Nohi Bus station and the JR Takayama station (3-5 min walk). Although we just stayed overnight, we had a memorable experience in Takayama Ouan. The hotel has a lot of freebies for their guests. They have a booth in the lobby where guests can get free brewed coffee, hot tea, and green lemon iced tea. They also provide free socks since the hotel have tatami flooring. What we also loved about this hotel is the onsen (separate public onsen for male and female, and 3 private onsen). They also have a freezer where guests can get free iced cream after bathing. During past 9 pm, they also have free ramen for their guests. The room is spacious, and the view from our window is also nice (the roads and establishments covered with snow). Aside from the free stuff and great amenities, we also appreciate the kind and friendly staff members. We accidentally lost the luggage claim tag (and we are willing to pay for it) but they didn't charge us anything. When we go back to Takayama, we will definitely stay here again.

Super convenient, the hotel is located two minute walk from Takayama station on the way it is fully covered so there’s no worry during a snowstorm like when I was there. Service was also amazing staff met the guest with a smile and when I didn’t have an umbrella, I was offered umbrellas for loan straightaway for free. The hotel also has its own Onsen and it was very convenient to see it crowdedness through the TV in your own room. There’s also a rest area where you can enjoy the view of Takayama from the top of the building and a foot spa for those who can’t do the full body hot spring which is very good for people.
