Very good, the female boss is very talkative, she is the only one who speaks English, bring a translator, the air conditioner is a little loud, the other equipment is what a hot spring hotel should have

First thing to say: Takayama was our favorite place in Japan. It’s a cute, artistic little village nestled in the mountains. The views are awesome! I highly recommend visiting the city and staying at this hotel. This is an amazing property. It’s very rustic and gorgeous. It is a schlep from the train station (approximately 60 minutes) and you must get there by bus on very twisty, winding roads. Our only regret was that we had one night here. If we visit Takayama again, we will stay here and spend three nights. We would get into the city early in the am and spend the day and night in town (by the train station) before boarding the am bus to come to this place. The owner is lovely (so is her mother) and was super sweet and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious! The onsen was clean and amazing! We just loved it! We had a huge space that was comfortable and clean. This hotel is old so expect that - rustic and old yet really sweet. I LOVED it! If you’re able to spend a few nights here, do it.

First of all, the atmosphere around Fukuchi Onsen is very peaceful and nice. Even if you say it's dreary, it's completely different from being lonely. Dinner can be enjoyed by the hearth or in a private room. I was told that the rice for breakfast was from Toyama, but it was so delicious and had so many wild vegetables that I ended up refilling several bowls of rice. They also serve miso soup in a pot at the edge of the hearth, which is also delicious. I also chose a room with an open-air bath attached to the hot spring, so I took a bath many times.

I stayed one night with my wife in Shinryoku Naka. This is my second time at Fukuchi Onsen. Last time I used Nagaza. Choza, Katsuragi no Sato, and Soen are apparently owned by their eldest, second, and third brothers, respectively. Katsuragi no Sato is characterized by the fact that the rooms are separated and each room has a hearth. When you're burning charcoal in the hearth, you'll lose track of time. It was very refreshing. The food was also good.
