We really loved the onsen. It’s located in a beautiful setting but you need to take a bit of a drive from Takayama to get there. Each men’s and women’s onsen has 2 baths, one hot one indoors and one cooler one outdoors. We liked both as you can get a nice breeze sitting outside.
The bathrooms in each room are a bit dated but it’s clean. The food was exceptional, but come with a big appetite because it’s a lot of food. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

We unexpectedly booked a traditional Japanese hotel with a very artistic environment. The dinner and breakfast were rich in variety and tasted great. The service was even better. There are two private baths in the hotel, no reservation is required, you can enter as long as the door is open.
