Wonderful guest house, full of interesting artefacts and traditional Japanese trinkets.
Traditional stay with modern amenities.
Our family of 4 loved our stay here during April 2024. The owners are very welcoming into their home and they go to a lot of effort to make our stay happy and comfortable.
A traditional Japanese Breakfast meal is provided. The food is delicious and plentiful.
Sleeping is Japanese style on tatami mats and comfortable futon mattresses. The rooms and beds are warm and cosy, even when it is cold outside.
The bathrooms are clean and modern, and the hot bath was a very welcome relief from the days of walking.
The location is very convenient with a 1 minute walk to the Miyagawa morning markets and other interesting locations. The house is an easy 15 minute walk to Takayama station.
Highly recommend. We loved our stay here!

Perfect experience! Pure Japanese style, I like it very much. The store owner's service is great, and there is also a hot spring bath + Japanese breakfast! I will stay here again next time, and I will never want to leave.

I visited with my family. The owner was very kind and we had a comfortable stay. There was a separate bathroom, but it wasn't too inconvenient. However, the shower facilities were shared, so it was a little inconvenient. It would be better if the shared bathroom could be reserved by the hour.

The room is very Japanese-style, but the soundproofing is not very good. The service was excellent and the breakfast was very Japanese. The boss and his family are very enthusiastic!

Such a cool and unique experience! The place is run by such a nice older couple, and you really feel you’re experiencing true Japanese culture. Food was amazing, the rooms were so cool, and the hospitality was second to none. Definitely will stand out as a highlight of our trip!

I loved this ryokan, it was a home away from home. The workers at the ryokan treated you like family and are very hard workers. Always smiling and made you feel like home. The food was amazing, you will never go hungry. The location is in a fantastic spot, close to everything. Will be returning hopefully soon!

This is an exceptional Ryokan run by one of the most welcoming and gracious family -- genuinely extraordinary service, generosity and charming. A beautiful and convenient location, and just a wonderful experience. The Onsen is really a cherry on top. Highly recommended!

If you want to gain an insight into Japanese life, people and their traditions this is a lovely place to stay. It is a ryokan run by some elderly local people in a very old Japanese house. It’s such a change from standard hotels and we’re so glad we experienced a little bit of Japanese home life. We had a wonderful elderly lady who seemed to run the place and who we nicknamed “mama Takayama” as she looked after us so well. The staff don’t speak alot of English but are very warm and attentive. You sleep on the floor - and during the day the bedding is magically put away and you gain a tearoom! The breakfast is very good (you can opt for traditional Japanese which we had or Western style) and there’s an onsen which was a real bonus on freezing winter days. Excellent location - walking distance to everything. A lovely place to stay 2-3 nights.
