A traditional onsen hotel, recently renovated and facilities modernised. The twin bed room is large - about 50 sq m in size. In addition, there is a balcony overlooking an excellent view. The breakfast and dinner buffet are fine, though not very special. I like the Japanese style dinner better. The hotel is situated inside the mountain. Access is not easy. There are no shops nearby.

We are so happy we booked this hotel for heading to Mt Aso. First, the staff greeting was super warm and welcoming. The hotel is brand new and while our room was a great and functional design, the bed was the most comfortable western-style bed we’ve had in all of Japan! It’s location is super convenient if you arrive by train (it’s across the street) and while they don’t really have dining facilities, there is a fun outdoor market right outside where we grabbed dinner: meat skewers, mustard greens biscuit and a delicious craft beer (there is also ramen and a few other food choices).

I stayed here to visit Takachiho gorge, which I wanted to go to for the first time on my first trip with him in the spring of 2016. Reasonable and good location, I was going to make a reservation alone, but it was a very memorable trip with the pleasant response of the staff from the time of reservation to the check-out. Every dish is really delicious because it makes full use of the characteristics of seasonal ingredients. The salt-grilled salmon is salty and very fat and delicious. There was also a cherry blossom for breakfast, but it is tempura, so it seems that the taste is different from the cherry blossom for dinner and eating another river fish. Even if you use the same ingredients, you can realize that if the cooking method changes, the taste changes like magic. The rice was also very delicious. The grains of rice 々 stand and shine is evidence of delicious rice.

At first, I was confused because it was under renovation and it was closed for business. When I rang the front bell, the staff kindly explained things. Everything from room information to how to use the bathing facilities. The facilities were quite good for the price, and I could feel the feeling of a ryokan. Of course it was clean, and the bathing facilities even had a mini hot spring. It was a bit cold due to the nature of the ryokan, but it was okay because there was a kotatsu. Accessibility is near Uchinomaki Station, but it's a mountain road so you can't go anywhere at night. I think it will be very convenient for those using a rental car. The property even has its own free parking lot!

One poo and two food, the room is quite large and clean, and the dining is good. The same high level of service as all spa hotels in Japan. The soup that comes with the hotel is very good, and the whole of Heikawa is iron-containing. The outdoor style is quite large, and the private soup for the guests is also very good. You can buy a hand at the front desk, and you can still choose 3 of the 25 hot springs in Kurokawa. The location is the town center, a few steps away is the popular puff shop.

As Takachiho Gorge is comparatively hard to get to we felt much better staying in Takachiho for a night. And it's great to find a modern hotel in Takachiho, the front desk was nice and helpful, note that it is such a small town and dining options are not a lot so I would recommend have dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Hotel has a large parking lot and breakfast is great (a bit wait in the morning during peak time)
