I stayed in the beautiful spa suite as all the studio rooms were booked out which the owner kindly gave to me for a discounted price. The bed was so comfortable, the balcony faced the mountains beside rural fields and the service was outstanding. I fully recommend treating yourself to the luxury of staying at this super clean and comfortable place.

We stayed in Golden Bay to visit family last week and feel so fortunate to have booked at the Mohua Motel. It’s perfectly located on the edge of Takaka town with an easy walk to shops, restaurants, galleries, and museum. Our room was spacious and well appointed , and exceptionally clean. This is an owner operated motel. The owners are on site and are lovely, friendly and helpful.

The Mohua Motels team understand the complete customer experience. My positive experience started with the check-in. Nirmul and Catherine (I hope I spelled their names correctly) worked to ensure I had the quiet room I requested. Next, there was a last check before I entered the room to ensure it met the motel standards. Then there was the offer to help me with my bags. How many motels does that happen at? The room was spotless, everything was up to date, a firm mattress and even an ethernet cable. I loved the plunger coffee, the bottle of fresh milk and the hot chocolate. I was treated like a family member - the kind of family that is totally helpful without being intrusive. The motel is just a short walk from a large FreshChoice supermarket and multiple very good restaurants. Tip for ice cream lovers - try the ice cream at Golden Fresh Fruit Ice Cream on the main road! Highly recommend this motel for others. You deserve this type of attention and standards while traveling. Added bonus was the lovely sunset I witnessed from the motel's courtyard!

Where to begin! Our visit to Mohua Motels was unplanned, resulting from a holiday injury needing us to abort our camping trip and find accomodation in Takaka. The hosts were awesome, empathetic and kind. We had 4 nights accomodation with them to rest and prepare for our return home. Whilst our holiday didn't go as planned these guys were amazing and we can't recommend them highly enough. Facilities were spotless and well appointed, and the hosts and their staff are brilliant! We had friends recommend them previously and they were not wrong. We will return!

Katrine and Nirmel are sweethearts. We stayed for two nights. Each evening, we’d come back and get restored in our clean and well-designed room #7. The hotel is conveniently located on NZ Highway 60 and within walking distance to all the shops.

This has to be one of the nicest motels I've stayed in. The lovely warmest welcome at reception by the proprietor and his family made us feel right at home. We could not fault the room. It was spacious well appointed and extremely comfortable. A big high five to the cleaners who do a superb job...it was spotless. We loved our 2 nights here and would highly recommend it to anyone exploring this gorgeous part of NZ
