I recently stayed at The Grand Hotel Taipei and overall had a lovely experience. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning — the iconic architecture, beautiful interior design, and rich history truly make it a one-of-a-kind place. My room was clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, and the view was just as grand as the hotel’s name promises.
However, I did encounter a bit of disappointment regarding a birthday request. I had reached out in advance asking if there might be a small complimentary gesture for my birthday. Unfortunately, since my check-out was one day before my actual birthday, the hotel declined. The response I received via email was quite cold and simply said “no,” with no alternative or warm message, which felt a bit impersonal — especially since staying at this hotel had been a dream of mine for a long time.
Despite that, I still enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel for its unique ambiance and elegant surroundings. I just wish the service had been a bit more accommodating or thoughtful, especially for special occasions.

The room for a solo traveler or even couple is very large. Lots of walking space, can lay out luggage, etc.
Not a lot of light in the room, but still ok. The TV is quite small for the size of the room and it sits very low on the TV credenza rather than bolted higher onto the wall. It is a Smart TV so you can logon to your own Netflix account which was nice.
The pool is the reason I booked the hotel, it feels like a 22-25m pool, but once there are 2 people swimming laps, it already feels full. You get strong sun starting early in the morning at like 8am (during summer time).
If you're hoping to be near an MRT station, this one is a bit far, so I used Uber for most of my trip.

**JSL Hotel Review**
My recent stay at JSL Hotel was a delightful experience, marked by exceptional service and comfortable accommodations. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the front desk staff, who made the check-in process smooth and efficient. The lobby exuded a welcoming ambiance, setting a positive tone for my stay.
The room I stayed in was spacious and well-appointed, featuring modern decor and a breathtaking view of the city skyline. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. I appreciated the attention to detail, from the high-quality linens to the thoughtful amenities provided, such as complimentary bottled water and a well-stocked minibar.
One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s dining options. The on-site restaurant offered a diverse menu that catered to various tastes, from local delicacies to international cuisine. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which featured a wide selection of fresh fruits, pastries, and hot dishes. The staff in the restaurant were attentive and friendly, making dining a pleasant experience.
The hotel’s facilities were another standout feature. The fitness center was well-equipped, allowing me to maintain my workout routine during my stay. Additionally, the pool area was inviting, perfect for relaxation after a day of exploring the city. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was commendable, and I felt comfortable navigating the premises.
Location-wise, JSL Hotel is ideally situated, with easy access to major attractions, shopping districts, and public transport. This made it convenient for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel also offers shuttle services, which I found to be a great added convenience.
One area for improvement could be the Wi-Fi speed, which was a bit slower than expected at times. However, it did not significantly detract from my overall experience.
In conclusion, I highly recommend JSL Hotel for anyone looking for a blend of comfort, quality service, and an excellent location. My stay was memorable, and I look forward to returning in the future.

The hotel is situated at a good location of Taipei. The MTR is easily accessible. Many good shops and restaurants are in the hotel building. It’s very convenient for people who don’t know much about the city.
Chang An K Hotel is well-located and offers convenient access to various destinations, including the subway. There are also several convenience stores nearby, such as 7-Eleven and FamilyMart, making it easy for guests to pick up daily necessities.
I booked a Deluxe Twin Room — the beds were super soft and cozy, and I slept really well!. The facilities were good and well-maintained — everything I needed was available and worked just fine. The breakfast was alright — a good selection and everything tasted fine.

We had a great view from our room and loved the staff. The location was in between two metro stops so you have to walk 10ish minutes in either direction to get to a stop. The only other complaint I had was there was an electric toilet/bidet and it would automatically flush for you and was insanely loud. If my husband or I went to the bathroom during the night the other would get woken up by the loud sounds of the automatic toilet flushing.

The hotel room was relatively clean and didn't have any musty smell. Housekeeping was done daily to ensure cleanliness. Breakfast was provided and they also gave coffee/tea throughout the day at the lounge. Hotel also had free self-service laundry located at B1

We booked the hotel at the last minute. Good place to stay. Near MRT station. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is comfortable and clean. There are only couple minor things that I am not too crazy about: 1.) there is no AC in the elevators 2) no Japanese toilet seat in the bathroom. (I like my Japanese toilet seats.) However, I would recommend the hotel and book it again in the future.
The hotel hardwares r decent enough. That’s absolutely no amenities in the room (except shampoo, body wash and conditioner), not even body lotion. The cafe has a limit charge is you want to sit there even for hotel guests. The management is not experience enough to handle customer request in a decent way. We asked for a half hour extension of check out and they said no unless we pay Nt$1300. I think it’s a bit ridiculous. I never stay in a hotel like that.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The service was consistently good—there was always someone at the door to greet us each time we returned, which gave a warm, welcoming touch. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The hotel is home to two 1-star Michelin restaurants, which we only discovered on our last night—unfortunately, too late to try them. Definitely something to look forward to if we return.
The property does feel a bit dated, but in a way that gives off a retro charm. The room was standard and functional, with strong water pressure in the shower (a plus). However, the pillows were quite uncomfortable, feeling flat and worn, almost like an old cotton pillow that’s been in use for a decade.
One convenient feature is the money exchange service at the hotel, with fairly decent rates. Just a note: they are unable to exchange currency once you’ve checked out due to system limitations, so plan accordingly.

AAnonymous UserExcellent location. About 2 mins walk to songjiang Nanjing station exit 4.
Hotel provided clear self check in instructions in both English and Chinese if your check in timing is late.
Coffee machine at the common area.
Hotel is located at level 6 of a building. Signage can be made clearer but that's a small issue. Look out for the hotel name signage when you reach the location based on the Google map.
Staff members are friendly and checks in with you.
The soundproofing of the room is not excellent but that did not affect my sleep.
Overall a pleasant stay!
BBabemoonMayLocation of the hotel is great, close proximity with 10-15mins car ride to most major ”must visits”. The cleanliness of the hotel is top notch, sparkling clean everywhere.
Gym is a little small though but basic essentials are there. Breakfast buffet spread was amazing wish I had more time and tummy space for all the food!

GGuest UserGreat little hotel close to the main shopping areas, but on a quieter side street. Well worth the money.
Lots of bars and restaurants nearby, and easy walking to MRT station / parks, etc.
Moved to the hotel after a bad experience at another accommodation, and was very happy!
Clean, comfy and with a solid breakfast!
Thank you!

AAnonymous UserI recently stayed at Vagus Hotel in Taipei and was impressed by several of its special characteristics. The hotel boasts a prime location, just a short walk from Taipei Main Station and Ningxia Night Market. This made exploring the city incredibly convenient, whether I was hopping on a train or enjoying local street food. The accommodations were comfortable and well-appointed, featuring air-conditioning, a private bathroom, and essential amenities that ensured a pleasant stay. Additionally, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent, with a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi adding to the convenience.
However, there was one notable downside during my stay: the water pressure for bathing was very low, and the hot water supply was unstable. This made showering less comfortable than I had hoped, as it was challenging to get a consistent flow of warm water. I sincerely hope the hotel management can address this issue by improving the water pressure and stabilizing the hot water supply, as it would significantly enhance the overall guest experience.
Despite this drawback, I would still recommend Vagus Hotel to others. Its strategic location, comfortable rooms, and great service make it a strong choice for travelers. With some improvements to the bathing facilities, I believe this hotel could offer an even more enjoyable stay.

YYang XiaonanBooked this hotel for a large school group travelling to see their sister school. This hotel is wonderful for large groups on a budget due to the many shared dorm style rooms. It is also relatively convenient to public transportation, though it isn't exactly in the heart of the city. The facilities are clean, bright, and fit our group well. Service was excellent as well. We will definitely book again in the future!

GGuest UserOverall, this hostel is very good. It’s cheap, clean, the beds and pillows are comfortable, and the location is very convenient. The self-service check in and check out is also very convenient. The ventilation and drying system in the bathroom is great. The disadvantage is that the water pressure in the shower is too weak. The water temperature also fluctuates between hot and cold, resulting in the entire bathing time needing to be lengthened.
AAnonymous UserOur stay at this property was fantastic. The value for money was excellent, with spacious rooms and all the necessary amenities. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. The location was convenient, allowing us to easily explore the city on foot. The cleanliness of the property was good, and the hot water and Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The facilities provided everything we needed. Overall, we highly recommend this property for its great value, friendly staff, and convenient location.
