Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Tacoma

Hotel was nice. Clean large room. Appeared to be recently remodeled. Good hot breakfast. Plenty of parking. Downsides: Sketchy part of town. We were on second floor and could hear all the noise from the pool. Thankfully it closed at 10 each night. No car chargers. If we were in tacoma again we would probably stay here again. One of the cleaner nicer hotels at this mid range price (200-300/night with taxes and fees)
Hotel Murano

Does the fragrance of coffee brewing at 6:30 help start the day? Do hot eggs and sausage provide energy for chilly mornings? After work, does music sound welcoming by a fireplace in a lobby? Does the taste of local seafood chowder and creme brulee sound delicious? From the check-in desk to the elevator lobbies, and rooms, awesome glass art is exhibited, along with the artists' inspirational quotes. Some artists are from all around the world; some are Tacoma's fine artists, skilled in locally producing art using techniques learned from Murano, Italy. Quiet rooms remind weary travelers that, ”Silence is golden.” Sweet dreams and wishing you, too, many happy Murano Memories!

We stayed here from August 5th to the 7th.... All we have to say is DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! Its under MAJOR remodel and the street construction of removing a old railroad track AND outside construction made it very difficult to rest. Other things. 1. they have sketch tables that your are supposed to check in.... 2. They have no security. A street person who carried a skateboard kept trying to get on the elevators with us and I refused to let him in. 3. They had NO keys of any kind and you had to go down to the temp front desk to get them to walkie talkie a janitor to let you in and out of your room. We never got a key after they said that they were down only temporarily. 4. There was construction going on everywhere. The 3rd floor parking had construction materials and construction crews cars parked all over. Plus the gates were kept open all day and night allowing homeless people access to guests cars. 5. The ”free” breakfast that we were supposed to get was held in a small conference room that had plastic sheeting on the windows outside and construction people and equipment all over the place. 6. There were a couple of nice employees however their pictures in their website are nothing like you get there! 7. We NEVER got a print out of our bill........even though we asked for it. WORD TO THE WISE PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE.................UNTIL THEY GET THE HOTEL FINISHED! BE WARE!!!!

Geiger Victorian B&B

We stayed for three nights while attending a wedding on Vashon Island. Skip and Jane are delightful hosts and we enjoyed our morning chats over coffee. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was fantastic each day (eggs one day, french toast another, then crepes). Jane double-checked with us (and others) on any dietary restrictions and set up breakfast accordingly for each individual. It is as Victorian a house as one can find, full of period furniture and trinkets galore to keep you busy just checking out each room. Jane went above and beyond for us as our flight was delayed so we could not make our first night. I called and let her know that we wouldn't arrive until the next morning. Since it was after the official time to cancel the room, I was already planning to pay for the night since they did not have time to re-book, but she wouldn't charge me for it. Then, after we decided to stay an extra night, she re-arranged rooms so that we could stay in our same room even though it had already been booked by someone else. Just little things that made the trip great. I have traveled to Seattle a number of times but never had spent any real time in Tacoma. The town has really blossomed over the past decade, losing a lot of the industrial nature. The streets around the inn are very walkable and we enjoyed getting up early and perusing the neighborhood and then heading up to Point Defiance Park and over to Vashon. The ferry is only 10 minutes away. An enjoyable stay and definitely would stay again if we are back that way.
