I was at the hotel for a three day conference. The first day the room we were in for 6 hours was no warmer than 64 degrees. There were other empty rooms that were warmer and although they were empty, they did not move us. At the end of a the day I checked into my room, which was lovely, however the thermostat was set to 70 yet was only 63 degrees. After 20 minutes of it not getting warmer, I called to be told the engineer was not onsite but would come later. I asked to have my room changed. I got to the new room, which was not nearly as nice as the original room. However, the heat worked. I laid down to take a nap for an hour, and half an hour later, someone actually walked into the room. I screamed and jumped, I scared them as bad as they scared me. The front desk had not updated that the room was booked. On the day of check out, the alarms were going off, saying the building needed to be evacuated. However, we did not have to evacuate, the whole day was just not what I would expect at Marriott , it was especially disappointing because this is the former Hotel Syracuse, which has some historical, sentimental meaning in itself.
