We were a party of four ladies for lunch. The food was excellent, one smoked mackerel brushetta, two fish and chips and one pie and mash. All served hot and with a smile. The staff were friendly as were the locals. Pretty garden too. All in all, a lovely afternoon.

Stayed for one night but arrived in time for dinner. Staff were welcoming and attentive, the food was good. The room was a good size and had nice amenities. I liked the touch of having a mini cafetière with fresh milk provided in a little flask at check in, although more than one sachet of coffee would have been appreciated. There were lovely tri-fold doors but no windows to open to allow air to flow Clearly you wouldn’t want a door open all night, if only for security purposes. It’s a great stop in a quiet village.

A very nice pub with first class accommodation and a nice restaurant area. The rooms are a nice size with an excellent shower. The staff were friendly with a lovely breakfast provided. Will certainly stay again the next time we are in the area..

We’d stayed at the White Hart in 2022 and it was reasonable for the price and convenient. This time we thought we’d stop for lunch on the way to Heathrow. What a difference. It looked tired and was cold inside. Our lunch was awful - easily the worst meal we’ve had in years. When I came to pay I was given the final figure and it was only when I asked for a breakdown that I saw that service charge had automatically been added to the bill. We won’t be returning.

Good location good size room and ensuit. The bedrooms were located in a separate building. It was a real shame that the mattress was uncomfortable (lumpy , needs changing). Breakfast was served in the pub, there was a good choice and we enjoyed what we had.

The room was clean and the staff were all apologetic and kind. However the room was a disaster in design. No windows, only bifold doors into a brick wall corridor which people can access freely.. Meaning no air conditioning or safe way to open the window while sleeping in the heat. On request they said there was no fan available (guessing in all the rooms) but after insisting they gave me a tiny fan from the bar. Other guests also uncomfortable and had tried to construct barriers. The room needs a smaller door, a set of safe windows in the other door panel and a really decent large Aircon fan for each room to be habitable. I was so surprised it wasn't mentioned on the booking. You could also paint the wall or something! As a side note tea, coffee and no milk in room was odd.

Had two evening meals here whilst staying locally, on both occasions the food and drinks were excellent, the staff were attentive, a good menu selection not just the run of the mill burgers. Free parking onsite, remember to register you car reg plate when you arrive.

Booked here as a convenient stop over for me and my adult son on our way to a special week end in London, fairly random choice based on location, half way between home and destination. But wow! It was absolutely wonderful, a 100% surprise and delight. Our rooms, supposedly ‘basic’ were fantastic, newly created, clean, comfortable, warm, quiet, spacious and with lots of little extra thoughtful touches to make them homely yet still sophisticated and luxurious. Even a flask of fresh milk for tea and coffee etc… lots of convenient parking; supper in the bar was first rate, ambience delightful, amazing breakfast included in the price, very VERY welcoming staff, the list goes on, and at £66 each per night, all included, well I was amazed and very happy. There seems to be a lot to do and see in the area and I will DEFINITELY go again. What a find! And in the end, the best part of a lovely week end. Faultless.

The picture of the place looks great. The reality is somewhat different. The accommodation is in a wooden cladded annex in the car park. The room was basic. The toilet ran all night so it won’t flush properly. We ordered an Aperol spritz and were told they didn’t have any. After we pointed it out on the shelf we were told that the brewery didn’t allow them to make it as it wasn’t on their recipes. The faggots were okay. The chicken burger was dreadful it was grisly meat with a soggy coating. The fries had been cooked in fat which was either too cold and/or dirty. Not Butcombe’s finest establishment
