Pioneer Station Motor Inn

A one night stop on our way home from a fortnight in Adelaide, and we found it to be pleasantly surprising. The rooms are a good size, the air con super efficient and the owner was very friendly and helpful on check-in. Very comfortable stay, and we will use this motel again. They also had the foresight to turn the air con on before we arrived, so we walked into a cool room. Highly recommended.

Good location. We stop over at Swan Hill for one night. We stayed in this hotel in 2018. Very nice, clean, spacious room, and in the best location, it’s in the middle of the town. Walking distance to all the shops and eating place. Walking distance to the Giant Murray cod display.
Paruna Motel

Great little motel, is close to the main street, but far enough away from the road for any traffic noise and walking distance to the attractions. We stayed in a deluxe Queen room which have been refurbished and they are spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and the new decor very pleasant. The motel also has a pool up the back with a covered area with chairs and tables, fridge, barbecue and large screen TV. Emily at reception across the road was so wonderful to deal with, super friendly, so helpful with ideas, nothing was too much trouble for her, what a breath of fresh air, if only every motel had an Emily, it would be so much more pleasant exp0reience traveling. Thanks Em.
Quality Inn Swan Hill

Just an overnighter on our way through to somewhere else but swan hill has always been a good half way point from Adelaide. Found this to be a lovely comfortable very clean motel room. Very nice styling and bed was really comfortable. Thank you for the compliment water. Though we didn’t have the breakfast it was a very good deal. $12 for bacon and egg muffin hash brown and coffee. Glad to have the mini fridge in the room we made use of that. Great reception service. Very friendly. Hotel is well located on main Campbell st and this is the only con is that the night traffic is very loud. Trucks motorbikes etc. so loud. Doesn’t matter what room your in. And we could hear stuff going on next door but they were fine. Otherwise very comfortable.
Lake Boga Caravan Park

My wife and I just spent 5 wonderful days at Lake Boga Caravan Park, the facilities near the gate are lovely and the lakeside sites are great, we had a fire place that we rented from the office for $10 for the duration of our stay. Some people from other sites joined us one night for a chat and a few quiet drinks, everyone at the park was friendly and helpful. It was a bit cold for the Dogos to go in the water but that didn’t detract from our enjoyment of the place.
Swan Hill Resort

The official Swan Hill Resort web-site claims this is a four star resort - I do not think so (according to Australia’s star rating system). Never stayed here before and thought we would give it a go. Now in Australia both words - resort and four star provide guests with a certain expectation when booking - well, I thought so. If you read the star rating it certainly does anyway. Starting with our check-in - the receptionist was lovely - very charming and professional - off to a good start here. The room - oh dear. If you book from the description via the web-site - look somewhere else - the description and the reality vary considerably. No open bar (not sure if there was a bar although the lovely receptionist said she would get us a drink), no on-site dining available - apparently only a buffet breakfast we were told, no water in the rooms, the floor was pretty grotty and so was the doona on the bed - blood stains (luckily we had one in the car so used that). The Manager, when I called, did tell me I could purchase water and also told me that they (presumably the owners) did not set the star rating so I should not expect those standards. And if I was unhappy I could go somewhere else. The room smelt very sanitised. No mini bar (still assuming ratings mean something here and according to the web-site all rooms are equipped with a mini-bar) and not quite sure what a luxurious colour pallet (in each room is) - ours was dusty brown. Not sure about the outdoor facilities as it was raining when we arrived. Pools looked fine, although the indoor facilities were pretty tired. The mouse that ran across one of the barbecue plates thought his accommodation was very comfortable and dry (I would have taken a photograph but dropped the mobile - sorry). So, all in all not a wonderful experience for us. Onwards and upwards.
