Hotel Klippen

Be aware of the two different hotels. ”Klippen hotel” and ”Klippen by”. They are two diffrent places 10 min apart. This review concerns Klippen by. I was decieved through nice photos of the other hotel into believing I had booked Klippan hotel but ended up in Klippen by. Felt a bit like my backpacking days in India when this sort of things happend frequently. No ventilation in the room( is it legally OK in Denmark?) dripping fossets disturbing the sleep. The curtains did not block the sun enough( thin fabrics) in combintiantion of thick air with the windows closed and screaming seagulls( terrible even with the windows closed horrendous with it open) through the window made the night terrible. Seagulls comes with the fishing village I know, but then do something about it in the room. The breakfast in the other hotel was really nice. That exeperience only made me feel even more fooled and ”member of the b-team” in Klippen by. Johan, Sweden

Tourist Scam! Selling in one hotel and placing you in another. Booked the hotel as a part of a convient bicycle packege through Book Bornholm ( Yes, I wrote an email about this to them too). I still do not know if it is Book Bornholm or Hotel Klippen who made the mistake. After an exhausting bike ride with my 9 year old ( he was very tired) son I was looking forward to stay at Klippen Hotel ,with a beautuful seeview from the garden. My booking confirmation says that we have booked the hotel and the adress is Grevens dal. We followed the gps and got there. We looked for our room for a long time. From the outside the place looked much more run down than it looked on the website. Then I noticed the text I got today referreing to an email ( I don’t look at emails while biking with my 9 year iold son) sent today saying that we are staying at ”klippan by ”, another hotel. We had to take our bikes up again and altogether( with the fruitless search) loosing around 1 hour of vacation time to get to ”klippan by”. In the village and with no see view and with no garden. I specifically booked Klippen by and not the Gudhjem hotel because of the location. Behold! Klippen by is the neigbouring hotel to Hotel Gudhjem. Also we have a long walk to get to the brekafast buffe. None to talk to and no reception. More like a hostel. A clear tourist scam. I have travelled a lot and this reminds me of backpacker experiences I have had , for example, in southeast Asia. Not something you would expect in Denmark. How was the room at Klippen by? It was OK. But that is not the issue. The issue is that you book and pay for a room and then it is something completely different. Klippen hotel has a unique location and they use that to place you in the middle of the village instead. /Johan, Sweden

I was looking for a week of somewhere and decided that I would go visit Bornholm, since I’m a Dane, I’m 35 years old and I haven’t been yet. I can only say that I guess I’ve only waited till this amazing spot opened. We chose the rooms away from the terrace because wanted some peace, and we got that! I have no idea why they don’t market they have the best waffles on the island included in their breakfast (which is included in the price). I usually don’t eat breakfast, because I’m intimate fasting, but this week I wasn’t able to! They also have a place called “Hummerhytten / The Lobster Cavern” with a very very very decent take on a lobster hotdog with or without truffles. The staff is warm and welcoming! I only got positive words to describe this little magical place. After we explored the island, we found Gudhjem to be the best suitable city for us. It’s the only city of the island which is on a cliff, so you basically got a beautiful few from everywhere. There’s a lot of good restaurants and walking distance to Melstedbadehotel which have some amazing fish! I know where to stay when I’m back!

The rooms we got were fantastic for our needs: private entrance out to a big terrace with an uninterrupted view of the Baltic and Christians ø in the distance. The location is incredible; below the hotel, there is a nature area along the coast with a path leading down to the harbor and a walk along the cliffs. It is stunning and a fun place for our daughter to play. The breakfast was excellent and felt luxurious, although the selection of things to eat was not that large, so maybe it does not fit everyone. On the other hand, I would expect you could ask to get something else the next they if you do not like what you get since they prepared a separate breakfast tray for each group of guests. (Maybe that's different in the height of the season: we visited in the first half of May and there were very few guests.) One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is not staffed except at breakfast, so there is no reception where you can ask questions. (Maybe that's different in the primary season.)

We had a great time at Klippen in Gudhjem. This small town is sooo cute. Can't wait to go back. Breakfast was the best and rooms has the best view. Staff is really helpful. A great tip is to try the "Fish and Chips" in the restaurant for lunch.
