We stayed at Suzhou Shuilumingsu hotel/B&B (苏州水庐名宿) on Xishan Island (西山岛) in the middle of Lake Tai (太湖) shortly after it first opened in 2021. The owners and the staff were very friendly, accommodating, courteous and helpful during our entire stay. It is not easy to find places that can be described as peaceful or quiet in China, however, this was definitely one of them.We enjoyed a whole day relaxing by the pool which overlooked several nearby islands and a huge expanse of the lake. The entire premises had a modern feel and was tastefully decorated. Our room was modern and relatively spacious. One room has 3 sides that are floor to ceiling glass giving a greater than 270° panoramic view of the lake and nearby islands. In addition to the peace and quiet, the general area Suzhou (苏州市) is home to many attractions that you would expect of a large Chinese city (and its surrounds), as well as some things that you might not. So there are plenty of options for entertainment and food. If you are looking for a place to get away from all of the hustle and bustle, then this is definitely a good option. Being on the southern side of Xishan Island (西山岛) it is a little remote, but still relatively easy to get to by car or bus being about 130km (2 hours) west of Shanghai (上海).

If you go to Xishan to play, it is recommended to stay for one night to slow down the pace. There is no need to rush to the road and traffic jams with the National Day tourist army... The homestay is newly renovated, all facilities are new, there is no smell, and the room can be seen outside, which is great! The parking is convenient, there are many farmhouses to eat around, and you can stroll around the homestay. The young and beautiful owner and his wife are also enthusiastic. There will be more places to go on weekends!

The loofah was grown by the proprietress's mother-in-law. It was natural and sweet, and the salmon soup was also delicious. It was almost eight o'clock in the evening. My daughter said that she wanted to eat the one for lunch, so she came back very late and the proprietress gave us noodles and fried eggs. The child ate very fragrant. Breakfast is freshly fried fried dough sticks and pancakes, there are not many varieties but also comprehensive nutrition. When I booked, I saw a swimming pool. The swimming pool was not big, but the children had a great time. I learned the dog bark breaststroke in two days. The in-laws of the owner of the hotel were diligent and hospitable. They told us the stories of their childhood in the village. On the day they left, I heard that the children would sing Peking Opera and let their daughter perform a paragraph. They pulled the children to talk and chat, just like the uncles and aunts next door. I was pleasantly surprised; when I chatted, I also prepared a new tea reception; There are billiards, chess and cards and other equipment downstairs, suitable for couples and families to live on vacation, but also suitable for teams to build; the environment is good, the cleaning is also very clean; the location is easier to find, you can take the peak hiking route behind the village, and you will pass a large tea mountain. The villa we live in is located between Mingyue Bay and Shigong Mountain on Xishan Island, Taihu Lake. Taihu Lake is at the entrance of the densely populated area. The rooms are all very beautiful with large floor-to-ceiling windows and lake view. There are more entertainment facilities inside and a lot of space. It's a pity that we have fewer people this time.
