[Cooking] I was a little tired of dinner at the inn because I was traveling, so I only included breakfast. Like Tsubasa, you can relax in a private room for both dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was a delicious small amount, and it was a good amount for me as a snack, but it may not be enough for young people and men ... I think it's a place to refill pickles and rice. [Bath] The biggest weakness of this hotel is the bath. The quality of the spring is good because it is a private source, but there is no open-air bath and you can hardly see Lake Suwa from the bath. In the range where I stayed before, the next ”Beniya” has an observation bath on the top floor and you can soak in the hot water while overlooking Lake Suwa, and ”Sagi no Yu” has a magnificent open-air bath. But that's not here. It is renovated and has vivid tiles to create it to the taste of women, but I wonder if this interior is also a place where tastes are different ... (Honestly, I don't like it). The dressing room is clean and I'm working hard in the bathroom, but it's hard to say that the essential bath is responding to the needs of current customers. It is quite difficult for people who are not traveling by car to go around Suwa ４ company individually because access is not good anywhere. We intended to check out the Lake Suwa area of Nagano to view the autumn leaves, which were peaking during the time of our visit, and we couldn't think of a better option than to return to the marvelous Sui Suwako ryokan. We were pleased to find that the establishment was as delightful as we remembered it. We stayed here just a year and a half ago, so I won't go into detail regarding every aspect of our stay. Our wonderful butler during our previous stay was on leave of absence, but we were delighted to have gotten to know the wonderful Ms. Minri Ko, who was as competent, attentive and knowledgeable as she was warm and charming. The dining experience was sublime. Not every offering was a ”best ever” serving, but that's not what we were after (nor should you seek it here.) While everything really is delicious, what's more impressive is their ability to serve local dishes with local ingredients, which really adds to the overall sense of place. Soba (buckwheat noodles), Basashi (raw horsemeat), Wakasagi (Japanese Smelt from Lake Suwa) Tempura were among the highlights. Breakfast was equally imaginative and well executed - many ryokans really mail in the breakfast - they're all good (how can Japanese breakfasts not be?), but can be the same 'ol thing. At Sui Suwako, they really go the extra mile in bringing out the flavors of the local, seasonal produce and fish from the area. Yet again, we left Sui Suwako with a deeper understanding and appreciation of this part of Japan. And that's part of why we travel to far-flung places, right?

It is about 10 minutes walk from kamisuwa station and Suwa Lake is also a short walk in front of katakura Kan. I wrote it in the title, but if you use the navigation of sumaho on foot from Kamisuwa station, you will not be instructed to go to the opposite side of the station, and you will be instructed to walk a little and pass the underground road. I visited with two motorcycles. I was a little lost because there are many one-way streets around the road, but the parking lot is covered on the first floor of the hotel, so you can prepare without any problems even on bad weather. The hotel is located on the shore of Lake Suwa. Because we wanted to watch the fireworks at night in August, we booked a room with a view of Lake Suwa this time and sat on the terrace to watch the fireworks. The room is very large. The hotel also has a viewing rooftop where guests can watch fireworks in the evening and sit in a hammock in the morning to enjoy the scenery. Across the road is the shore of Lake Suwa. You can go out for a walk if you have time after breakfast. The environment is very comfortable and beautiful.

I stayed in room 1205 ”Kissho” on the top floor. The official website said that this was a suite room that was renovated in March of this year, so I booked this room. When you get off the 12th floor, the top floor, you will enter the elevator hall, which has an automatic lock, and from there you enter the corridor to the suite rooms, which only have four rooms. Then there are entrance doors to each room. Looking back, I noticed that the elevator doors and hall are luxurious and beautiful. The room is 102 square meters. When you go up from the entrance, you will see a tatami-floored corridor, and directly in front of you will see a semi-open-air bath with a natural hot spring water source that overlooks Lake Suwa. I was impressed by how spacious it was. Entering, the room continues to the right. It was a corner room with a 180-degree view of Lake Suwa. A wonderful view. The simple and clean room is spacious and refreshing. If you look closely, you will see Japanese crafts on the bed head and in small places, but the subtle light-colored wood tone is soothing. The room is equipped with an air duct and a humidifier. The linens also have no unpleasant odor. The room was well-cleaned, so I was able to spend a very comfortable time. As expected from a ”long-established Japanese inn” The satisfaction level of the bath here was higher than the suite room at my favorite members-only club inn. There were several types of shampoo, so you could choose your favorite scent. This is also nice for women. I felt the hospitality was thoughtful. ”I want to stay in this bath all day.” If I had to say something, the bed was quite hard, so I had trouble falling asleep. The sofa was also hard. Dinner was served in a private room, and breakfast was served in a large convention hall. The hospitality was attentive and the staff, including veteran older women and young men, were all very friendly. Overall, we really liked it, so my husband and I decided that this was an inn we would definitely like to visit again.
