I get the heritage, retro vibes; I get the shabby hipster decor, but one thing I'll never get is over powering room deodoriser scents. It was so overwhelming ascending the worn carpeted stairs to my room. Inside the room it was mildly better. While the sheets and bed were clean (pillows were old and worn), the room really needed a full deep clean, especially in the bathroom. Sure, toilet was clean, but years of built up grime and dust around shower base, sink floor and tiles, was bad. I went to open the window to get fresh air (also, to help deal with scent) and found that it doesn't lock but opens into an air-lock, where I could look into a businesses back door. Not good for security. Happily, I stayed mid week which didn't include the noise issues that others have spoken about. Shame, as it doesn't feel like with too much work it could be worthy of it's 3 stars... at the moment, more like 2. :(

The hotel is actually a 2-floors pub with rooms upstairs, so during week-ends, you can "enjoy" the very loud music until late at night. which is really not why you're booking an hotel room for. The room is also very small and a bit old. But it seems to be one of the cheapest hotel in the area (probably for this reason...).

Room was quaint and cosy…very low lighting and very small sink…otherwise comfortable. The hotel overall has a wonderful decore….shabby sheik at its best. Good quality wine list ….. burgers were expensive but very good. Very central….however i expect weekends with DJ till early hours would make weekend stay difficult.
