Aside for the accidental double booking that was not reversed by trip com , pretty good affordable hotel . The aircon is new and not noisy which is rare . Hinatuan is an interesting town to stay at for sure .

One of my favorite travel stories took place here at the Almont Hotel. First a little description of the setting - the hotel is situated on a typical Spanish style town square with an old colonial Catholic church and a central small park with a bandstand and small kiosk businesses around the square. For the second time I was stranded in Butuan, this time due to a delayed flight from Manila arriving close to midnight causing me to spend the night there before continuing on the next day. Remembering my pleasant previous stay at the Almont, I checked in there a little after midnight into a pleasant second floor room. I had just fallen asleep when I felt someone shaking my bed! I woke up but there was nobody there! Ghosts? No. an earthquake! I had experienced earthquakes before so jumped out of bed grabbed a sheet, wrapped it around myself and headed out of the room and down the stairs and into the street joining the other hotel guests who were similarly wrapped in sheets and bedclothes all excitedly milling about while the ground was still shaking.! Suddenly all the power in Butuan went out and with it all the lights as well! It was a starless, moonless night and the square was pitch black and several screams and louder talking arose when suddenly a bright white cross appeared in the sky! I'm sure that everyone fell to their knees in prayer, certain that the end of the world was at hand and this was the Rapture. We were going to meet our maker! Gradually a few generators came to life - the first being the one in the church which was responsible for lighting the cross at the top of the steeple. We were all saved! And given a second chance to atone for our sins! I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I enjoy retelling it again and again! BTW Butuan as well as much of the Philippines is no stranger to earthquakes with many small tremors every year. But the Almont was completely undamaged and I will feel safe there the next time I stay there!

WARNiNG!! DONT BOOK for THIS SCAMMERS!! We booked a room for 3 people (as it says sleeps 3 for one room) for August 2023 for one night only because we have flight in the morning. I’ve asked for the agent to change my name to my husband’s as I will be late for few hours and I was the one who booked them so I should show my passport and bank card. The agent changed it to my husband’s name and put my son’s name and didn’t include my name! And when ive complaint about it the hotel asked me for a payment of 2500 gbp extra!! Is something wrong with their heads or what?? Then they denied that in Hotel.com website says that the room sleeps 3. They said they only do 2. Then telling me that my son is 14 so he is not allowed in the room. Told them when I’ve booked, it asked me for my son’s age and there was no problem. Anyway I’ve ready all their policy and there was nothing indicating 18 years old above. What disgusting people!!!

It’s a great place to stay.... Staff were friendly caring and pleasant, starting from the reception. Meals are very good and delicious...
Rooms are warm while outside is very cool. Well maintained hospital. I highly recommend the hotel for locals and foreigners. I would probably choose Orient hotel next time as I have experience warm welcomes of the staff, excellent service and pleasantness of hotel crew.

気気まぐれな旅人I stayed with my family. It is a boat transfer. You can communicate with local SIM here, but if you support it with WIFI, it will be almost unconnected. If you walk along the pier from the dock, you will find the front desk of the hotel. The pier is divided on the left when entering the island. If you walk on the left side, there is a cottage about ６ building, and the stairs are down from the cottage and you can enter the sea. I couldn't swim immediately because I went at low tide this time, but I was able to swim at high tide near the evening and everyone was swimming with a lot of fun. Meals are eaten in the dining building while coming from the dock to the hotel. There is a karaoke building next to the dining building where you can karaoke while drinking alcohol. There is nothing around and it is a little far from the hotel, so you can enjoy it without bothering you even if it is noisy. This time it was one night, but I would like to stay for two nights to spend a relaxing time.
