If you're looking for a quaint, quiet, hidden gem of a get away in nature with a beautiful, pristine fresh water lake for all your water activities, look no further than, Ruby Lake Resort on the Sunshine Coast B.C., in Madeira Park, is a Natures Paradise and definitely somewhere to add to your list to experience. I went solo with my Son to immerse ourselves in Natural B.C. Just to get there is an adventure in itself, on a short ferry ride from Vancouver B.C. Where we saw Orcas, and seals amongst other sea life on the way! The Drive along the Sunshine coast is Magical. It's somewhere to just get away from it all and rejuvenate your mind, body and soul. Peaceful, Tranquil serenity, for book reading, meditation, bird watching, wildlife, with Eagles, sunning turtles, hummingbirds are daily visitors on this magical resort. PET FRIENDLY so you don't have to leave your furloves behind! Amazing Unique accommodations for all types from Cottages, Tents, Glamping Tents and Cabins! An Italian Friendly Family owned resort that celebs you may know have been, raving about the exquisite menu, made from Farm to Plate, with Chef Aldo himself, look up menu. Have a napkin ready for drooling. Enjoy, swimming, kayak, canoe, paddleboard, hiking, yoga, breathing in the fresh air, and sensory overload with Nature! The Water is my meditation, absolutely serene, but also with breathtaking scenery, sunsets, star gazing, cloud formation watching, so much to see. A truly relaxing, marvel to be there for all ages.

Tired old camp ground from the 60’s Definitely not worthy of the title resort, hobo park maybe more suitable. It’s kinda like if you pitch a tent on the downtown east side without the cars. But seriously don’t waste your money, many other nice places in that area.

The lady checking us in declared proudly "this is glamping not camping" which had us hoping for a treat. Also, our booking stated that toiletries etc. were included, but in fact these are not provided. What we got was the use of a small hand soap dispenser in the shared washroom. The same lady boasted that we had the "lovely new washrooms". These turned out to be essentially porta potties with only cold water for showering. If you want to cook, you have to set up your camp stove at a designated central "kitchen area" some distance from your tent, this does have a rather dirty fridge but again only cold water. So our stay was really lacking any of the promised glamp, it was just camping. I like camping and have visited other state parks which provided better facilities at much less than half the price than Ruby Lake Resort and without the misleading descriptions. The tent and bed provided were fine but there is a lot of road noise as the sites are along the highway. The resort itself seems set up for big occasions and to me was reminiscent of a rather dreary hippy festival site. I didn't see any facilities for kids, not even a space to throw a ball around. See my screen shots regarding the pricing. $115/night to camp I consider already steep, but then they add on $46/night in unexplained property fees, so you are paying $161+taxes/night to take cold showers at a bleak campsite while trucks roar nearby. If this appeals to you feel free, but I won't be back.

So disappointed. My parents, kids and I rented two cabins for our summer vacation this year and wow, I wish we’d chosen another place to stay. Our cabin was just plain dirty. Over 20 spiders and webs in our room, dust on the nightstands, black mold/grime in the bathrooms… it looked like someone had given it the fastest, least attentive clean possible. The mattresses were old, dipped in the middle and uncomfortable. When we told them that the room wasn’t cleaned and the beds uncomfortable they said “well we’re not the Hilton”. Which I realize, but we still payed a lot of money and I consider basic cleaning to not to an add on. Wish I known the place was so run down and unkept before we booked. We checked out a night early.

Here are copies of the emails that were sent to the reservations manager, followed up with a phone call, in order to give them the opportunity to "make good". Hopeless attempts. Please note the pictures of the accommodations at $195/night and please make sure that to read through all of the reviews. The negative ones are spot on and give more details of the same experience. 1st email sent at 11:00 PM, after trying to call someone at the "resort": "We had looked forward to coming to stay at your resort after having visited Ruby lake last year. We booked a trail view Safari tent. We were charged $140 + $30 for a pet fee + taxes for a very basic tent on a wooden platform, with camp style public washrooms nearly a 10 minute walk away. A week ago, we camped in our tent at a BC provincial campground in Squamish for $35/night (with our dog) and honestly it’s hard to justify spending $160 more to sleep in an improperly cleaned tent on a wooden platform, on ikea sheets, and then having to endure very loud music blasting across the lake well past 11:00 pm which served only to drown out the constant road noise. This is not only unpleasant but unacceptable, as it made it difficult to sleep. At the BC campground with hundreds of people staying in tents, one could hear a pine needle drop between 10 pm until 7:00 am. I don’t mind paying for accommodations but I hate feeling ripped off. These accommodations are grossly overpriced and it seems outrageous to charge an additional $30 for a pet to sleep in a wooden platform camp style tent. At 10:30 pm I tried calling to ask about the loud music and party noises and was connected to the restaurant as the reception was closed. I was told to call you on your cell #. This is not a professional hospitality service for accommodations charging $195 a night. I am requesting some form of credit, starting with the extra charge for the dog, but also for an additional 50% credit for the tent would be warranted given not only the low standard of accommodation, but also the ongoing loud noise at 11:00 pm, and no one to be there to handle the situation. We are very disappointed and have decided to leave early in the morning, certainly not what we were hoping for when booking a night at a lake resort. I have recorded the noise as well as the interior condition of the tent. We look forward to hearing back from you asap." Email # 2, sent the following morning: "Hello again, The outrageously loud party noises, music and fireworks went on past 2:00 am, constantly being woken up who knows how many times. It’s now 7:00 am and are now woken up by a steady stream of cars heading for the ferry, and the sounds of neighboring guests in their tents, and their cars. This experience can hardly be called a night at a lake resort and having been charged $195 now feels like an insult. It’s been a huge disappointment and we just want our money back and to leave asap." We arrived at 7:30 pm and were gone before 8:00 AM. Tr

I love the authenticity and charm of this very unique property 😊. Only 45 minutes from Vancouver! The Sunshine Coast offers so much @ the right price compared to other destinations in BC. Happy earth day 🌎

Magical place and a true hidden gem. The owners and staff have created a natures haven. With multiple hikes, trails and Ofcourse the warm Ruby lake there is always something for the nature lover to experience. The 5 star restaurant lives up to the hype and the food is divine. Will definitely be going back.

Ruby Lake Resort is a beautiful rustic hidden gem!! If you and your significant other love nature, this is the perfect romantic getaway! The view from the treehouse tent is spectacular! Mountains and forests surround the entire property for ultimate privacy. If you enjoy kayaking, Ruby Lake is the ultimate spot! The lake is so warm and the water is crystal clear. The staff at the resort are so friendly and helpful, and the food at the restaurant is excellent! I almost don’t want people to know about this place. This is our favourite getaway when visiting the Sunshine Coast! ☀️☀️☀️
