Not what we expected. We didn’t think this was 5 star at all. PROS—if you like lodging close to a city, Azur is very close to the hustle and bustle of nice restaurants and shops in Queenstown. Views from rooms are ok. CONS—rooms are NOT luxurious, carpet is cheap and very low quality, TV is oddly placed and low quality, beds are 2 singles joined together so you can feel the ridge in the middle, and my husband’s side was lower than my side. Very uncomfortable for couples!!! Bathroom area was nice though. Huge flies were flying around in our room when we checked in. The rooms are located downhill and you have to walk up and down very steep hills to get to your room. My husband and I are very fit and we could do the walk but this is not a friendly walk for older folks or disabled folks. They have golf carts that can drive you up and down but it’s still a very steep hill. The food is just average. The breakfast served in the room was not complete—an item was missing from our order, the plate was sweaty because it came covered because it was transported from the lodge all the way down the hill. My coffee came in a sippy cup so that it didn’t spill. Sippy cup in a 5 star hotel??? Nahhhh!! There’s no dinner option in the hotel. You have to head to town to eat or order Uber eats . The missing dinner option actually in my opinion makes this hotel/lodging a 3 or 4 star at the most. I’m not sure where the 5 star reviews come from, but my husband and I did not like this hotel. Sorry to burst your bubble but we have traveled extensively and stayed in many luxurious 5 star hotels all over the world and Azur lodge is a 3 star….maybe we’ll give it 4 star because of the nice bathroom and the proximity to town. There were even cobwebs in the table lamp!! We had just stayed 2 nights in Blanket Bay resort in Glenorchy and that was EXCEPTIONAL!!!—-a 10 star hotel!!!! If you’re looking for true luxury, go to Blanket Bay…I’d give Azur a miss!!!
