Eastwood Lodge

Not what expected! Pictures shown are obviously of the best room! Very basic, our room not clean, pillows old & therefore lumpy. Bathroom floor dirty & mould in corners. Shower DANGEROUS- went from temp chosen to scalding hot, then cold then scalding hot again! Needs immediate attention. Complained but not interested.

Eastwood lodge was my home for a month of May 2024. The service was great I felt like family the way the owners treated me and other guests that were at the lodge. Terry and Andre went above and beyond to accomodate me and I would like to extend my gratitude to them and the staff for great accomodation, meals and ensuring that all my needs were met, and exceeded. I would definately recommend them to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Springs area, whether business or pleasure.

On the plus side the room was big and clean and that’s it! On the negative side I found it impossible to get in using the keypad but there is an emergency phone number on the door, emergency? So why weren’t my calls answered at 10.00pm. I banged on the door to no avail then found a big stone and knocked with that, fortunately there was someone in there who opened the door for me. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast was awful. Sliced bread, instant flavoured porridge , margarine, ugh! and cheap jam in plastic pots and flavoured sweetened yogurt,everything except the orange juice and milk full of additives. I wanted to take a shower but it was chilly. There was a heater but the only socket that I could find was too far away to be of any use. There was a good tv. Never again!

Eastwood Lodge It can only be described as basic but clean. There was a plethora of notices in several places about turning off lights and leaving the room key; these could have been replaced by one laminated sheet. The television was not working, we suspected for a while, but thankfully the wifi was. The beds were comfortable enough. The breakfast was not continental as described; where were the cheeses and cold meats? There was porridge and cornflakes, but no fruit or yoghurt. Brown bread which when toasted was like coarse sand, a small tub of margarine, marmalade and jam; as the trouble had been taken to put the margarine in a plastic tub, why not do the same with decent jam and marmalade instead of ‘plastic mini pots’, the sort provided in service stations etc? There was instant coffee, sugar and tea bags, milk and orange juice. A coffee machine was advertised but only a cafetiere and no ground coffee. There was a toaster and a microwave. To us this seemed like a place for walkers who would want a hearty breakfast to set them up for the day, not a minimalist apology. Fortunately I had taken my own towels, 2 small thin bath towels were provided but no bath mat. The bathroom door would not shut, it swung open all the time into the kitchen, dining area which was unpleasant. There was no cooker as shown in the pictures!

A budget room I can understand that's what we paid for BUT pictures do not tell the full story, beginning of season you shouldn't expect to have flaking paint on the walls, it was dog friendly, so WHY have a dog friendly room at the front door, obviously dog hear every noise and bark, notices up in the room saying CONSIDER OTHER USERS we spend all our time trying to keep the dog quiet, but at eleven o'clock another guest came in like a stampede, same guest next morning at six went out in the same manner.

Photos look lovely but in reality "you cant polish a turd". No carpet on the stairs so late night revelers stampede like elephants upstairs upsetting the pet freindly rooms downstairs. Definitely wont be returning 😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒😒
