Grand Hoyah Hotel

We had to extend another night in Olongapo and we decided to try this hotel inside the Freeport Zone. It was just an additional 400 a night from our previous accommodation outside the base yet it made all the difference. Breakfast was already included, tho we didnt get to try it bc we left early in the morning. The room was spacious enough and the staff was really nice, from the security guard to the front desk. We tried their resto and ordered yakisoba, beef dumpling soup and banana turon. It took quite a while before the food arrived but it was worth the wait. Food was delicious and priced reasonably. Will difinitely stay here again for our next Subic vacay.

This resort provides all in one relaxation, with the great view and clean beach side of Subic Bay. Rooms are quite old but still comfortable to sleep in. Hoping they can change the headboard to reduce the wood chips that falls off since it is a bit old. The entire resort is great, they just need to improve their rooms and the lobby. Staff is great, kudos to the Bar Staff, specifically Arvin, during night shift. Also to the breakfast restaurant server during our stay, one of the longest staying employees 15 yrs, whom Ive met years ago, and still there. Just forgot kuya /tatay name. Still same exemplary service.

As the title suggests, it has to be the no 1 worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The rooms are rough around the edges, and showing it's age, there was a hole in the roof in the bathroom, the bath looked dirty, there were stains over the carpet and the whole place had an unclean feel about it. The corridor was full of kids riding bikes up and down and making a lot of noise, not what you need after you had spent 26 hours travelling! The food for breakfast was just disgusting, there is no proper coffee machine or milk for that matter so you have to use the sachets of creamer, you take one sip and head for Starbucks around the front of the building! Just avoid!

At long last, we have stayed here for my birthday celebration with my family. From check in, the front desk staff asked us to wait until 2pm since they said that’s the standard time. We waited downstairs because there are no seats at the lobby. Nobody approached us at 2pm so i reminded them that we are waiting. I noticed that front staff people were lack of training. They don’t smile that much and not welcoming. Elevator platform at the 4th floor is not even so a lot of guests got stumbled and its dangerous because there are no warning sign. Our room is great. Cozy, clean and spacious. The veranda is boring. No tables and chairs and towel rack for wet clothes. What i like most is the bathroom! Very spacious and neat as well. I love the jacuzzi that can fit up to two people. The only problem is the bathroom door. Its very old and need to be updated. You can peak from the outside so there’s no privacy for people using the toilet. Room amenities has coffemaker, and safebox. Television channels are a little bit blurry. When I requested for a pitcher of water, i have to follow up for 4 times. Swimming pool is huge and nice. The slide for kids is not slippery so its a waste of time using that. I love the sand and the pool which you can feel like youre in a beach. The problem that time was they have an event so there were no beachbeds set up that time and there’s no staff assisting guests who’s gonna swim. I have to look for people to ask for a towel. The buffet breakfast has a lot of choices. We enjoyed the food especially the kids. The view of the yachts are instagrammable. What I noticed from the first time i set my foot on the resort are the staffs. They should be train how to properly do their job. Some they do but mostly not. For a room that is so expensive, the expectation is very high and i never meet those expectation. The place is very promising but the downside is the service.

We stayed from Feb 20-22 with our friends and were assigned the 3rd floor overlooking the beach. We were assigned a corner room facing the sunrise and the sunset views which were awesome. The rooms were very clean and truly enjoyed the restaurant where we ate dinner there both nights including the acoustic musical entertainment. Most of all, we really appreciated the kindness, warmth and hospitality of all the staff from the front desk, the room staff and the restaurant, including the pool staff. Cant wait to come back there next time!

I would respectfully disagree with the latest review, dated 14th may 2021. I live for many years in Philippines, and visited quite a lot of hotels and resorts, as I enjoy to take my wife on small trips, to chill out and get away from daily hassles... This hotel is for now, probably one of the best I have visited ! The disappointed customer accused the team not to treat him respectfully just because his wish to extend his stay in the same room couldn't be managed... Sir ! You stood there during a week-end, and this hotel is a favorite spot for people travelling from Manila and around. On top, given the huge Covid 19's discount (30%), the hotel is always crowded on week-ends... Then and probably like me, many guests have their preferences and usually request a specific room when they book, so the team cannot always accomodate last hour changes especially on week-ends ! Sometimes the building has some fixes to be done, but this has nothing to do with the team at the desk, and more with the maintenance... The team in this hotel goes at their wits ends to accomodate us, all the time and with a gentleness that is quite rare in Philippines ! To finish with, it is also quite rare around to have an hotel offering bath tubs, so they will always get my preference... Just a little suggestion : It would be nice to have a plastic chair and a ashtray on the balcony, so we don't need to travel far to be able to have a smoke...
