We had an amazing stay at this guest house for 2 night, It is not a hotel but room so big and clean, staff there are very warm welcome and friendly. Location is not far from local market, If you have any questions about tour or good restaurants just ask staff at front desk. Am highly recommend this guest house!!!!

No, its not the Sofitel, but we found it to be very clean, comfortable, well staffed and with a great location for our 2 nights in Stung Treng. We had the "VIP" Room with air conditioning on a front corner. Yes, some flying insects seem to come in under the door at night and die on the floor, but the room was so large that didn't matter. You can get a massage across the street ($5, Khmer style) and I arranged for breakfast at 7am at the restaurant owned by German guy and his wife 2 blocks north of the hotel across from the Samsung store (talk to the wife, not the guy--she does all the cooking and she delivered exactly what we wanted right on time). It is a 5 minute walk to Ponikas Palace for other meals, the market, or the river. Noise not a problem and everyone was very nice and check out the carved tree root in the lobby. You do have to walk up stairs.

Budget guesthouse has clean a/c and fan rooms. Facilities are limited, however, with no fridge or coffee on site. It is a couple of blocks back from the river but there is a local coffee and baguette shop just opposite. No info on tours so check the tourist police office on the water front that can arrange trips and onward travel.

Hotel de 2 estrellas con edificio propio y parking solo para 4 coches (tuvimos suerte). Tuvimos que esperar a que hicieran la habitación (solo 1 hora). Recepcionista amable pero con inglés casi nulo. La recepción es casi un "museo" de impresionantes muebles de madera. No hay ascensor. Habitación amplia (2º piso) con grandes ventanas, aire acondicionado, TV local y sin nevera. Cama grande con colchón duro y bien de sábanas. Baño a la camboyana: ducha sin mampara ni cortina (se moja todo) con toallas justas (de colores). Sueño tranquilo. Wifi bien. Limpieza mejorable. Pago en efectivo. No hay desayunos, pero en la misma puerta hay un café con mesitas que soluciona el problema y enfrente una tienda con algunos dulces. A 5' caminando del mercado (donde hay casas de cambio) y a 10' del centro. Pocos turistas extranjeros suelen llegar hasta aquí, así que no está mal para la escasa oferta de la localidad y, además, a muy buen precio.
