Just come back from a 3 nights stay. The negatives were the poor quality sleep on all 3 nights. The mattress was extremely thin and the bed made an awful creaking sound whenever one of us moved. The first night I found a stain on the bed sheet. The bathroom definitely needs an upgrade - water spilling out over the shower tray and onto the floor, extractor fan not working. We did report this to a staff member who was extremely apologetic and said he would look into it. Positives: the food was absolutely lovely. Unfortunately we went down for dinner on the Sunday and they had run out of quite a few items so we left and found another place. We went back for dinner the following night and I can’t fault any of it- it was one of the best meals we’ve eaten. Breakfast was amazing and extremely filling. The staff were all so friendly and Oliver, was such a lovely man and made sure we were happy. Because of the issues with the room and dinner on Sunday, Oliver gave our mains on the house which was very kind of him - we weren’t looking for a freebie but this was very gracious of him. The staff were exceptional and we would go back again….if the beds are replaced.

Thank you to Oliver and all the staff for arranging a retirement cream tea for Thomas Keble. It was absolutely delicious, first class in every respect and we will certainly be coming again. Annie and the team of Learning Support. It was a lovely relaxing time for a very special lady.

Everything about The Old Lodge is perfect, it's location is amazing, sitting isolated on the top of Minchinhampton common with views all around for miles. It's obviously popular with locals as the beautiful garden was full in the evening. Our room was lovely but very hot and unfortunately we were kept awake by people sitting out in the garden chatting until the early hours which was fine but meant we had to close the window so it was even hotter. We had breakfast and evening meal at The Old Lodge and the staff were very helpful in accommodating my dietary requirements. I can imagine this is a beautiful spot for a wedding and at Christmas it must look amazing with a fire roaring away. I would happily stay here again but next time I'd ask for a room at the back which might be quieter.

Stayed for one night in order to visit our childhood homes and relatives nearby. The room was disappointing. Gone downhill since we last visited. Both bedroom and bathroom in need of upgrading/ renovation. Window panes were double glazed but blown… condensation between the layers meant we could hardly see out. Floor tiles in bathroom moved. Bathroom desperate for a facelift. Furnishings and rug in bedroom were tired and grubby and bed uncomfortable. Hall carpet also in serious need of replacement. It’s a shame as this is a lovely location and it could be very good. On the plus side breakfast was very good and staff all polite and helpful.

Stayed the night in this lovely pub/B&B. Had a lovely comfortable room overlooking the golf course. Ate in the restaurant in the evening which was very nice and had a delicious hearty breakfast in the morning. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and we enjoyed having a drink there. The staff were really friendly and made a point of saying to us ‘see you in the morning for breakfast’ when we went up to our room. I was really happy with our stay.

We are local to Minchinhampton, and having been to this pub many many times over the years, this was the worst experience we have ever had. We had friends staying for the weekend and thought we'd take them to the Old Lodge for a late afternoon/early evening drink (5:15 pm) on a very cold, damp and wet evening. There were no tables in the bar area in the front room, but many empty tables available in the restaurant. When we were about to order our drinks we were asked if we had a reservation. We said we didn't as we'd just like a drink. We were told we could either take our drinks outside in the garden (it was damp and freezing) or we could leave! This was totally surprising as the pub wasn't full. We were offered no explanation and the gentleman was rather off-hand. We then went to the Crown at Minchinhampton, the staff there were very welcoming, and we passed a very pleasant evening. I would really welcome an explanation for this, as we have never been turned away from a pub before, which we consider unacceptable.

Staff are very warm and welcoming, nothing seemed too much trouble. Beautiful surroundings located in AONB, as I drove up Cattle and Horses were openly grazing on the surrounding open land. Room was clean and provided tea and coffee making facilities, bathroom was snug, but expected from a converted old building. Views across the surrounding villages were lovely. Booked to eat in the restaurant and the food didn't disappoint and generous portion sizes. Breakfast was included with my booking and there was a good variety on offer, but went for full english . Will definitely come back for another visit.

Location great. Staff lovely . Food and breakfast excellent . What’s not to like?! Great base for visiting the area ( we went to Highgrove Gardens amongst other venues) but also if you just fancied some time away relaxing . Beer garden on a sunny day was superb!
