Our experience at Hotel Italie et Suisse was, unfortunately, underwhelming and soured by poor hospitality. While the location is convenient, that’s where the positives end. From the start, the desk attendant Samuel seemed bothered by our arrival, offering little warmth or welcome. The real issue, however, arose later that night when we learned of a strict LOCKDOWN period from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. (no one goes in or out) —a policy that was not visible during booking or clarified at check-in. Later that night when we expressed concern, especially as we were in town to reconnect with friends we hadn't seen in years, Samuel became increasingly curt and dismissive. He even suggested we find another hotel if we didn’t like the rule—an impossible solution given the hour. The following morning, he took the situation a step further by privately warning my roommate that we could be blacklisted in all of Europe—a wildly disproportionate and frankly unsettling reaction, given that we remained calm yet concerned throughout the interaction. Mind you, no other hotels in the area have this policy as we confirmed with other family members the next day, which brings the legality of it into question. Other guests’ reviews echo similar frustrations: indifferent service, outdated rooms, and a general lack of hospitality. Sadly, our visit confirmed all of the above. I cannot recommend this hotel, particularly if you value flexibility, friendliness, or basic transparency.
