Made a 1 night reservation by phone directly with owner Judith. She was very friendly and personal, providing nice details about her accommodation and restaurant. The location and surroundings were beautiful. I was greeted out front by a staff member when I parked as I arrived way too early to check in. I was offered a meal after meeting the chef, then Judith came out to welcome me. Will definitely return here.

Don't eat at this restaurant!!! Under new management and has gone way downhill. Limited menu and 1/2 of it was sold out. Took an hour to get our food. The foos was terrible, especially the grilled cheese. The grilled cheese child plate is the same as the adult one but 1/2 price. Very sad what's happened to this place!

The location of this hotel right on the river and a stones throw from all the stunning natural beauty this area has to offer can't be beat! It is also just across the street from the charming and convenient Strawberry General Store which is a definite plus. The hotel staff were friendly and the breakfast was tasty (although it was not included which in my opinion it defiantly should be especially for the high price of a room!). However, the overall feel of the place while generally clean, is run down and the rooms are quite basic and smell musty. The springs in the mattresses are loud and not too comfortable and the bathroom soap really smelled terrible. The decor of the hotel in general could use some definite updating, while still staying true to its Old Sierra charm. This would all be fine if the prices matched the basic accommodations. We paid $240 per night for a very simple room with 2 beds, and the old mattresses made it difficult to have a good night's sleep. This place really has a lot of potential, but until some changes are made we probably won't be staying here again.

The location is great, being right on the river and across the street from the Strawberry General Store. The stunning natural beauty of the surrounding area is breathtaking, and and all it has to offer can’t be beat. The inn itself however, is run down, and very out of date and highly overpriced for what you get. The staff were kind and thoughtful and the breakfast was good and tasty ( although it is not included). We will not stay here again unless some major updates and changes are made.

Many thanks to Vic, Judith, and Larry for their hospitality at the Strawberry Inn. To sum it up in a word, the Inn is charming! It can’t be easy to be one of the few remaining family-owned accommodations. Our room, #11, faced the South Fork Stanislaus River which was high due to the spring snow melt and we slept to the sounds of the river. Fantastic! The room was very spacious, with 2 very comfortable queen beds, a chair, table, large dresser, an open closet, an air conditioning unit, shower/tub bathroom, coffeemaker, and DirectTV. The only drawback of the room was the bathroom vent, connected to the bathroom light, which was an older model and very noisy. I recommend bringing a night light or you will wake up others in the room if you have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. No microwave or refrigerator but the nice staff at the restaurant provided ice free of charge. We decided against paying for WiFi which I think is per day per device. Cell reception is non-existent as is the case for most of the Pinecrest area if you have AT&T (I think Verizon customers get better reception). But there are rewards to being disconnected from the Internet. There is a lovely outdoor area with shaded outdoor tables and chairs. Veteran anglers will enjoy fishing the area just below the Inn. This early in the summer season, the restaurant was not open for lunch, dinner, but Mia’s down the road has excellent offerings and Dodge Ridge just opened its bar and grill for the summer. The Strawberry General Store is just across the street. Parking is plentiful and the location is great for enjoying hiking and fishing the Sierras. We enjoyed our stay very much!

The large river view room was clean, beds were a little squeaky, but comfy. The air conditioner worked beautifully. The windows in the room had a screen so you could open it and hear the river. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was much more than I expected from reading some of the reviews. Sometimes the critics are not always right. We could hear activity above us, but nothing we haven't heard being in a downstairs apartment, on a cruise ship, or on the bottom floor of anywhere. We had stayed in a house cabin before with no air conditioning and lots of insects. this place was a big upgrade. This place is not a 4 or 5-star hotel. For a place in the woods, it was comfortable and clean and had EVERYTHING we needed. I look forward to going back, again and again.

While the check in was friendly-good and the sparse room was clean, staff members partied into the AM hours of the night. Blaring car horns, yelling and even a dog joined in at times. It was difficult to sleep. We decided to check out early and return home the next night. Plan to bring your own sheets and pillow cases. The shame is that this place offers such a beautiful setting, with the 2-tier dining gazebo overlooking the River. It really could be a decent getaway spot except for the night party noise. Other members of the party were prone to talking in the hotel hallway next day. Dining options are heavy, burgers, beef goulash, sandwiches and fries. The Pizza was actually decent. In spite of the pizza and beautiful setting, I’d rather rent a cabin in lieu of this place next time. Extremely disappointing. As stated earlier we felt compelled to drive home the last night and sleep in peace.

We paid for a stay for my dad and step mom for his 50th year at Pinecrest. The rest of us were camping and this way he could be here to. the room wasn't ready when they tried to check in. Then when it was "ready" , it was super dirty -hair on the floor, beds looked slept in. The place could be so great- excellent location. The bed was uncomfortable. The next day when they asked for maid service they were told they didn't have housekeeping.I know the world is going through a lot right now, but please adjust your rates to reflect your level of service. OR Better- upgrade your level of service so you deserve what you charge. Really disappointed

This little inn is not fancy but clean and run by nice people. I was overheated from camping nearby and this place was a lifesaver. Good, simple food downstairs and the charming general store is across the street. Very glad to have found it and highly recommend for what it is.
