The service was great! There was an error with room allocation and as the booked room was not available, we got upgraded to a suite which was wonderful as we were celebrating a special milestone birthday. The dinner at the Trevellyn Restaurant was beyond expectation as we were vegetarian and the vegetarian meal prepared by the chef was awesome. The hotel decor itself looked a little tired although it added to the authentic look of the listed building. It was a hot weekend during our stay and although there was no air conditioning, a small fan was provided which made a little difference when sleeping at night. The gardens needed some upkeep and it would have been lovely if the fountains had been working. Overall we did enjoy our stay and look forward to coming back again after it has gone through some upgrading and refurbishing.

We stayed there two nights and there were 4 of us thus two, Deluxe rooms were booked. Absolutely nothing, except the size, was anywhere near Deluxe. The seats of the bar chairs were stained badly. The fridge in the room was empty, not even a bottle of water. When I asked if they had forgotten to fill it, the receptionist, totally disinterested, answered that they didn’t do that anymore and if we wanted a bottle of water, we had to ask for it at the reception. It was free but only on request. The second day we returned from a long day out to find the room and bed not made up and the bathroom exactly as we had left it.. again at the reception, where I was told that that also was only on request. We have stayed in very many hotels this and also in past years but this was just totally at the bottom of the list even though it was one of the most expensive. €1,000 for two nights. There were no lights on the dark path around the hotel. All in all a discrace all round for any hotel, not to mind a, so called luxury hotel… terrible. Booking.com only mentions our favorable comments and that were ..Good beds and pillows and perfect location. Had I read any of the more honest reactions, I would never have chosen this hotel. Hospitality was totally lacking, just as the honesty on the Booking.com site. Sad after many years of loyal use and satisfaction.. very disappointed this year !

The quality has always been stable, the room is neat and clean, this time it directly faces the hotel's own garden, and the view is very beautiful. The type of breakfast remains unchanged, it is still the traditional British breakfast, mushrooms, grilled sausages, bacon, baked beans and scrambled eggs. It’s just that the parking fee has increased this time, to 8 pounds per night. Prices in the UK are generally rising.

Excellent hotel in a super location, within easy reach of all the centre attractions especially the RSC. Interesting chice of rooms as the building has been stubstantially and very tastefully restored, we opetd for a contemporary room as they have lift service. Lovely staff, we had breakfast, excellent and swift service and great choices. Not the cheapest accommodation (there is car parking at additional cost) but if you ant to give yourself a treat, this is highly recommended. I will review the Woodman restaurant elsewhere.

This hotel is surprisingly good, opposite the Shakespeare Theatre, out of the Swan Lake on the River Avon, very beautiful, the hotel has free parking, breakfast is order but very delicious, the hotel room is very winding, each room is There is a specific name. The aisle is like a maze. It is very complicated. There is no elevator. I really don't understand. In addition, check in the front desk is in the back door, through a door, walk through the restaurant to get to the front door, in addition to the design is a bit strange, the other is very good, the location is very good.

I’m sorry to have to write a less effusive review than previous contributors. First impressions of the hotel are very good with what seems to be a well presented interior, friendly and helpful staff, a comfortable ambiance and an impressive staircase to all the rooms. However, it didn’t take much to notice that the carpet on the stairs was old, becoming threadbare and needing a clean. This theme continued to our room. The room seemed impressive at first but was immediately let down by a strong, lived smell. I tried to open the windows, but they were in a poor state of repair and could only open a few inches and with some effort. The bathroom smelled of damp and the ceiling over the shower was damp, slightly mouldy and with peeling paint. It didn’t take much to notice that what was once a very good carpet was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned properly in years. The soft furnishings smelled lived in and were stained ( something I noticed about the upholstered bench in the restaurant too). I did report to the very nice member of staff on duty who said the hotel’s owners (a small chain called whose name I can’t remember), hadn’t invested in the property for years. The staff really were very friendly and apologetic. Such a shame.

The hotel is generally good and the staff are attentive, but we would suggest avoiding the restaurant.
The hotel doesn't warrant a 4* with areas showing wear and tear such as water-damaged wood, mouldy seal in the bathroom, broken window locks, etc.
Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we were given a drinks voucher. After being advised our room was ready, we arrived at the room to find the maid still cleaning the room. The room included basic tea and coffee facilities and toiletries.
The pool/spa is limited and has a cold pool, a steam room, a sauna, and a gym.
We had booked into the restaurant for an evening meal, but when we arrived there was a table complaining about the food. They had sent their food back to the kitchen twice, and the staff were suggesting they send it back again. They walked out of the restaurant. Based on this, we thought we would order something that was pretty safe, so we ordered a burger and a chicken. However, the meat tasted cheap and of poor quality. The restaurant is charging gastro prices, but the quality is nothing better than Wetherspoons or worse. Again, the puddings were basic, with a vegan coconut ice cream that had an odd texture to it and a sticky toffee pudding that was no better than a cheap microwave pud. In our opinion, the staff were inappropriately dressed, with one waitress having such a short skirt that every time she moved you got to see more than you wanted. The bar staff were assisting in the restaurant, and one barman was dressed in hip-style jeans, which kept falling down. Although all very attentive and polite, it seemed that the hotel as a whole had very limited staff, with everyone just mucking in.
The breakfast was not much better than our evening meal. We arrived at 9.30am to find the milk, pastries, hot water, etc. had run dry. There was a selection of hot food, but once again the meat tasted cheap. The main waitress was incredibly young and either didn't communicate or spoke so incredibly quietly that you could not hear what she said.
At check out, we were not asked how our stay had been, and we felt that everything was done to avoid such communication.

This hotel is the most cost-effective hotel in my trip to England, very value! The room is large, the bed and pillows are very comfortable, the facilities are complete, the parking is free, and the breakfast is superb! In fact, it should be an old manor transformation, the garden is super large, reminding me of Downton Manor. The little brother at the front desk is super humorous and has a rich expression.

Outstanding
DDEECoventryAmazing guest house. Exceptionally clean. The room had everything we needed. The hosts were so lovely and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious, cooked fresh to order. Available items were fresh fruit, fruits juices, cereals, yogurts, toast with butter/preserves, cooked breakfast, scrambles egg on toast, tea, coffee.... and more. It is about a 10 minute walk into town. There is a garage next door and a Spar shop a minute away. Highly recommend a visit to Veeno in the town. We booked the wine pairing experience and it was amazing. We will be returning as the guest house was fabulous and there is plenty to do in Stratford.
We were visiting Talton Mill for a friend's special birthday and, we booked 3 rooms (2 coupes and 3 adults father and 2 sons), We stayed in the cream room, which had stunning views of the fields. We had instructions on how to let ourselves into the gpuse and individual rooms, so could arrive when we wanted to. As we were all arriving at different times. Al the rooms we booked were lovely. We were woken in the morning by the sheep, which was better than the usual alarm at home. Our continental breakfast was delivered outside our room at 8am, and we collected it on the trays provided to eat in the comfort of our room. There was plenty for all of us. Loads of fresh blueberries and strawberries. Talton Mill was literally 6 minutes' drive from here, and we had plenty of space in the car park. The owner was lovely and chatty, telling us all about the local area. Shower was hot and powerful, WiFi was also great. Would stay at this beautiful place again. Thank-you.
DDeparture43148032124Ok. Reviews. Let's get this out of the way. They do not have TVs in the rooms. I find this hard to believe that's a reason to give a lower rating. We stayed at an apparently 4 star prior to here and they had a TV in the room and they've refunded us our money because the stay/room/service/hotel was bad. (Not going to mention them). They didn't even quibble, they acknowledged it. So if this is a massive thing for you, take a tablet or laptop. We all have them. There you go, done. So in summary, they do not have TVs but have the most amazing walks, staff and surroundings. Lovely welcome in reception. The rooms were clean and bathrooms mastic mould free!!! Doesn't happen in many. Beds were lovely and comfy, reception give you any extra coffees you want, there was no quibble. 24 hr bar if you wanted it for residents. In the main bar area, it overlooks the golf course, the restaurant also. The restaurant services approx 36 people ish (at a time) don't quote me, this is a guesstimate. The bar lounge also has 25 people to sit? Again, don't quote me, it's a guesstimate. (Make sure you book a table though) You can also just go for drinks and you don't have to eat if you don't want to. There are many places within the area if you wanted to eat out. (You have to drive or taxi for this though, not walking distance). The quality of food they serve is not a Wetherspoons menu. This is fresh and locally sourced and not cooked in bulk. If you're looking for piles of food on a plate for £10, probably not the place for you. The food was amazing and the best I've had for a while. The waiting staff were there in a blink of an eye if you wanted something. You are roughly 30 mins from visiting places of interest. But you could expand further, it's very easy to access places. The area is a stunning place, Feldon valley I would recommend and would definitely return to.
GGuest UserCouple with dog.
For two nights we didn't have hot water. We rang reception an spoke to the duty manager - the second time...He told us it was because there was a coach load of people staying who had all taken a shower/bath at the same time on their return, and we would have to wait until it heated up again. That didn't allow for the lack of pressure - a trickle! In the end we gave up - no shower/bath. However, the duty manager assured us that the manager would find us the next morning.... this never happened, On the Saturday night the same thing happened. The excuse given by the receptionist for the manager not having found us that morning was there was a wedding and all managers were needed - they didn't start their shift until 11am. The duty manager couldn't speak to us as he was working at the wedding - Saturday night - but Leanne assured us that she had noted our complaint and that she had written up notes, and our inconvenience (now not having hot water for two nights of a three night stay) would be reflected in our invoice on checking out. This wasn't the point. The stay was supposed to be a relaxing, super special treat, not able to have a shower or a bath at night was NOT okay! She assured us that on the third night the 'tour' party and 'wedding party' would have left. So we would have hot water. Which we did.
On checking out the receptionist had no idea about our complaint, and therefore couldn't help us.
We are in the process of writing a compliant, and a review. The staff and hotel did not let you down - the management did!
I have a video of the water pressure.
On another point, the hotel is described as dog friendly. This might be the case. You can bring your dog for a fee of £25 a night, however, on check in we were told we had to eat in the bar area or outside. Luckily the weather was okay. However, we felt like second class citizens! Not only that but the bar area has no tables at which anyone could eat a meal - the tables are all low and only fit for snacks!
DDawnieIn the countryside in Stratford in a beautiful timber beamed building. The room was dark but spacious. We had the family room with a double and two single. Breakfast was included. No menus but the waiter said any English breakfast combination which was great. I had two poached eggs. The only problem was a lack of communication regarding the usual route to find the hotel being closed due to road works. Navigating a one way system in an unfamiliar town with no email or call to let us know how we were to get to the hotel was extremely stressful and put us 1.5 hours behind the schedule to arrive. This could have been sorted if the hotel had contacted trip.com with the landline provided at booking and explained about road works so I could have been forwarned.
Visited The Blue Boar Inn while my partners family were staying there for the weekend. The restaurant is very busy so I would definitely recommend prebooking over weekends. All I can say is the staff, service and food were amazing. We all chose to have food from the Indian menu and it didn't disappoint! The only very small criticism would be the food came out very quickly so you didn't have much time in between courses. I'll happily drive the 45 minutes from where I live to eat here again!
BBomford-GlaysherThe setting is super for visiting the sights and the hotel is a beautiful historic building. The modern spa was nice to use but we found the room quite basic and could do with a freshen up and very disappointed that there where no hot drink making facilities in the room.
We had the breakfast included in our room cost and we were very disappointed in that - everything was swimming in grease and the black pudding and potato rosti were very over cooked so we could not finish our meal.
The car park is £7 per nights stay but were were not made aware of this beforehand.
We would probably stay again but would upgrade to a room in the old part of the building and won't have the cooked breakfast.
