Driving towards the lighthouse and hotel takes your breath away. The scenery is absolutely amazing. We had a magical three nights there. We stayed in Stephenson I and from the lounge we had stunning views. The food was outstanding. Richard is an excellent chef. My dairy intolerance was well catered for. The staff attentive. We loved it and we shall return. Evenings quite magical when the lighthouse beam comes on. When there’s no cloud it’s a joy to see all the stars. Added bonus John part owner is a professional photographer so we were able to bring a print and cards back to remind us of a wonderful stay. Thank you.

Staying locally in Kirkcolm, we booked a meal in the restaurant. We pre-booked our food as we were a large party of 7. The food was superb, beautifully presented and incredibly tasty; we loved the additional canapés, soup and sorbet which we were not expecting. Service was excellent and we felt very welcomed. A highlight of our week in Scotland.

What an amazing place. My partner booked it as a surprise on our way home from a wedding. An amazing location. Fabulous room. The evening 5 course meal was wonderful. 5 stars to the chef. The ambience is so calming. Proprietars and staff excellent. Would highly recommend a visit.

Very friendly, professional and efficient. Food was superb, both dinner and breakfast (kippers, hurrah!), atmosphere very convivial, surroundings gorgeous. Very much appreciated the swift substitution for the mushroom soup, sign of a good kitchen, as if there weren’t already plenty! Having local beers from Sulwath available rather than the usual mass produced rot definitely a bonus.

The hotel provided 100 of our members (lighthouse enthusiasts!) with a wonderful afternoon visit including high tea. Scones and tray bakes excellent quality and served in the former keepers' accommodation. We split our members into 6 groups and it all went seamlessly. Fantastic location and an operational light too. I stayed there a few weeks previously on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Again, food excellent and comfortable bed and good bedroom facilities.

What a fun place! Here for our wedding anniversary and it was a real treat. We were in one of the modern rooms in a cottage a few minutes walk away and it was lovely. Big comfy room with good bed, and a large shared living room with great views. We ate in the main building, in the historic lighthouse and we loved it! Excellent food, well thought out menu, dishes well presented and most importantly, tasting great. Quite unusual touches, a caramelised cauliflower purée with my prawns was a revelation. Standard dishes such as steak and venison very well executed. Quirky and fun bar and dining room. Breakfast also unusually good, cooked to order and very tasty. We very much enjoyed our weekend here and would like to come back.

What a fantastic spot. The service from Helen was so friendly and Richard the chef was amazing with the delights he conjured up from that small kitchen! I can’t emphasise how good the food was. I would really encourage you to try it, amazing! We didn’t stay so unable to comment on the accommodation.

What a fabulous location . We loved everything about our stay , the couple who run it and the staff are so nice , the chef is fabulous. Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished , the bathroom also The hotel is cosy and nicely decorated it has a lot of charm Included with our stay was a 5 course meal in the restaurant and this was fantastic , my main course of venison was cooked beautifully and the local cheeseboard was a nice touch. A great wine list and whisky list The breakfast was also very good with a good choice of hot plates alongside the continental options and nice fresh coffee. A great stay and we’d both love to come back after a long two days of driving and dropping children off at universities this was a real treat

A truly wonderful trip to the lighthouse. This place is a one off experience, not to be missed. Quaint, charming, cosy and homely. The rooms are very clean and well equipped, however you would not visit for the rooms… the lighthouse comes alive at night, superb ambience, excellent service, some of the best food cooked to perfection. Nothing is too much trouble for the amazing chef and new owners. The fingers of light are a ‘must see’ at night time. Thank you for making our stay so magical once again. My happy place.
