The danger of going back to a place you have been before and thought was good is that you are disappointed the second time. I am happy to report that Knockinaam was even better second time around and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were in the South room this time which is a lovely, big, airy room with a great view out to sea and across the pond. The food was as sublime as ever and we were fortunate to be with other guests who enjoyed a chat after dinner. We were able to visit a lot of the attractions nearby as they were all open. So we had an excellent visit and we are both looking forward to our next visit!

A hidden gem of a place that sparkles like the sea at sunset! The food is fabulous, the wines are devine and the comfort level is spot on. Great place to explore Portpatrick and beyond. We have stayed here before and hope to be back again. Thanks for such a lovely stay.

We had a wonderful overnight stay and had an amazing 7 course dinner. Sheer skill by the chef and fantastic service by the team. Friendly accommodating and helpful. A peaceful setting with beautiful natural Galloway landscape. Rooms are comfortable and offer ample space. Thank you and we will be back

The location is lovely - right on the sea with no other development nearby. The hotel is stylishly furnished in a traditional way, and very comfortable with ample space to sit around in the residents’ lounges. We were in the “Whins” suite, with excellent views over the garden and out to sea. The food is excellent, thanks to head chef Tony Pierce; fillet steak, grouse and delicious but light patisserie were memorable. Finally, the numerous staff were all helpful and cheerful.

We had an idyllic experience at this lovely hideaway. It is like being in your own little family lodge but pampered while feeling totally relaxed and at home. The view is spectacular, and the sea breeze refreshing. The food is fantastic! Every night was a gourmet experience. Absolutely delicious and top quality in a beautiful setting. We loved this experience.

Evening meal absolutely delicious & of extremely high standard. Menu was inventive & made great use of seasonable ingredients. Excellent choice of wine & drinks. Also a superb breakfast. Lovely sanctuary to escape the busy world & relax. Will be back. Thank you.

Had the most wonderful overnight stay at this hidden gem. Everything perfect from the moment we arrived seeing the beautiful view until we left. Staff very attentive and friendly from serving our arrival tea and coffee with delicious shortbread down at the cove, fantastic service during dinner and evening turndown. Food superb and catered to everyone due to be asked our likes and dislikes before arrival. Looking forward to our 2 night stay next weekend

We loved our overnight stay in this beautiful hotel in such a scenic location. We would like to return and stay a bit longer next time (not least because it is a bit of a drive to get there!). Our room was large with a sitting area, spacious bathroom and triple aspect windows including a view to the sea. The daily changing tasting menu at dinner was delicious and, unusually, they were happy to cater for dislikes as well as food allergies. Breakfast also very good.

We drove down the long entrance drive and entered an oasis of calm where good personal service, lovely food and comfortable surroundings were to be our companions for 2 days. These things don’t come cheap, but our time at Knockinaam was good value. The “Cove” seating area for a cup of tea or an aperitif a particular favourite!. We look forward to returning.
