What an amazing experience Seriously I’m over the top We had a 4 day experience for a wedding there and every day was amazing from this place. The owners of the Castle just happened to be around and were so helpful and engaging. 1-rooms were beautiful and fully equipped 2-food and bar were on point 3-grounds were obviously amazing (it’s a castle duh) 4-staff were super helpful for arranging day trips and giving advice 5-proximity to major sightseeing was awesome Highly recommend all day and can’t wait to return

We went for a wedding: this hotel does a LOT of weddings and exceptionally well too. We stayed two nights and had an excellent time. The rooms are expensive (Irish hotels are) but this was worth it. The rooms are huge and well-appointed and our bathroom practically as large as our bedroom at home. And everyone else’s rooms seemed likewise. The breakfasts were great and the wedding catering excellent: the beef main course was very fine and then they came round with second steaks - though I don’t see how anyone managed two. The two aspects that really stood out were the exceptional surroundings with beautiful flowers everywhere and the really delightful staff team: nothing seemed too much trouble and there were a lot of charming young workers beavering away both in the hotel and banqueting suite. We felt very well looked after throughout our stay. Oh and the wedding noise didn’t impinge on the hotel at all - just as well as there are weddings almost everyday at this time of year.

We went here for our wedding anniversary in November. We booked over the phone a few weeks beforehand and the lady said that unfortunately she didn’t have a room with the four poster bed as they were all booked out. To our surprise she had got a cancellation and upgraded us to a beautiful room with the four poster bed. The room was spacious and really lovely. Bed was really comfy, bathroom was big and the bucket shower was great. We had our meal in the castle, the setting was great. Big Christmas tree in the corner which gave a lovely homely atmosphere. The meal was excellent, wine was lovely and the staff were brilliant. Great night later on in the lounge where a musician was singing and playing guitar. When he finished up a resident staying at the hotel with friends started on the piano. What a night, absolutely loved it. Breakfast next morning was in the castle again and was lovely. Again the staff were great. My wife and I had a really memorable anniversary at Barberstown Castle so once again thanks to all involved. Couldn’t recommend this hotel high enough, we’ll be definitely returning in the near future.

It creates a very poor impression of a hotel to be treated poorly when you come to your local hotel to have a quiet drink or 2 as a couple. Very disappointed to be moved from A to B to C as we were not having food and guests staying in the hotel had to be prioritised! Shame on you Barberstown Castle!!

Thank you for the invitation to stay at Barberstown Castle, and attend the 2024 Good Food IrelandAnnual Awards. Barberstown Castle, a 4 star Country House & Historic 13th Century Castle in the village of Straffan, Co. Kildare, is the perfect venue for luxurious getaways, special celebrations, weddings, conferences, gala dinners, and private dining. On our arrival, we were bowled over by the warm, professional welcome from the staff, and the stunning interiors of this unique and beautiful building. Christmas had literally just arrived that morning, and we were surrounded by sumptuous decorations, crackling log fires, a variety of delightful bars, restaurants & public areas including a dramatic Medieval Castle Keep, an Irish Pub, and a Garden Bar where we enjoyed lunch. Offering delicious bar food and drinks, with great views of the pretty gardens, it’s the perfect bar in which to relax and unwind, and we loved the dishes we ordered from the new winter menu, especially the fresh Grilled Salmon Niçoise Salad, and the tender Salt & Pepper Calamari Pop with a zesty lime & coriander dip. The Castle has been beautifully and sympathetically upgraded to a 61 Bedroom Failte Ireland Approved Hotel, and we had the privilege of staying in the recently renovated Barton Suite. Decorated in restful neutral tones, in a classical style, this spacious, comfortable suite was absolutely perfect for a restful stay. With wonderful views over the lovely gardens, and a terrific à la carte breakfast served in the elegant dining room or the striking medieval keep, the whole experience was second to none. It goes without saying that Barberstown Castle Hotel is a proud member of Ireland’s Blue Book and The Historic Hotels of Europe.  Many thanks to the owners and team at Barberstown Castle for making us so welcome. We can’t wait to make a return visit to this gorgeous hotel

This was a delightful stay. The room was updated and the beds and bath were comfortable. The best part of our stay was the Front Desk. They made us feel welcome and we are sending a virtual hug. After castle hopping we can say that this castle was a complete delight.

We had the most beautiful weekend at Barberstown Castle! The food was 10/10, the vegetarian options were amazing and they had vegan meat alternatives at breakfast. Lovely atmosphere with a great team of friendly staff who were so kind. Dinner in the castle was an incredible experience. The lodge was cosy and unique and the 4 poster bed the following night in the main hotel was very cool. Thank you for a great weekend!
