Upendo House Hotel Zanzibar

We had a fantastic stay at Upendo House, a perfect base for exploring the Stone Town. The highlight was the rooftop pool and restaurant, which offers stunning views over the seafront. It is a wonderful place to relax with a drink or enjoy a meal as the sun sets. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly throughout our stay, and their warm hospitality really stood out. The food at the rooftop restaurant was excellent, fresh and full of flavour. Breakfast each morning was both substantial and high quality, a lovely way to start the day. The location is ideal, just a short walk from the winding alleys of Stone Town and the lively Forodhani night market. While there was some construction noise nearby during the day, it did not detract from our overall experience. Upendo House is a great choice if you are looking for comfort, character and convenience in the heart of Stone Town.

Great location in the heart of Stone Town. Five star breakfast and wonderful staff went out of their way to provide us an unforgettable few days. Rooftop bartender made us excellent cocktails as we enjoyed the infinity pool, views and sunset after exploring the cities endless network of streets and paths.

We had a great stay. The room was good and the food is marvellous. Friendly people. We stayed there for two nights and that was enough because the town is very noisy. The hotel has a rooftop pool with a bar where it is very nice to stay. For us was the only problem the stairs.

Unbearable noise. Could not sleep until 2am because fo the loud cheers outside. The mattress was hard as a plank. Decor is pretty. Walk up to our room. Staff is friendly enough and is not shy about asking for tip. The restaurant is okayish. The staff forgot our order, first the veggie side dish, than the flourless chocolate cake. The cake was delicious. I think you can have a better stay somewhere for a more reasonable price.

Nice hotel in a great, central location for exploring stonetown. The food is good in the restaurant with lovely options on the menu. The rooftop pool is relaxing and enjoyable at sunset after a busy day exploring the town. Our room was a little noisy at night due to the noise out on the street but it usually quietened down by 10/11pm. Daniel on reception was great to deal with- very helpful, and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay.
