I booked online with *********** and when I wanted to check in, I was told that the room was not available but that they could offer me another one in another house for the same price. I had to lug my luggage there alone through the scorching heat, only to be led into a completely run-down house. Very strong artificial fragrances could unfortunately not mask the smell of mold. The room itself was musty, very small, shabbily furnished, with a shower cubicle right in the room next to the bed. No water came out of the shower and the whole impression was just depressing. The employee there was greeted by some angry guests who complained, for example, about non-functioning running water / non-functioning shower, which the employee dismissed with sarcasm. Since this room had absolutely nothing in common with the chic photos of the Hiliki House, I declined it, which was apparently met with understanding. I was told that bookings made through *********** are generally not considered binding, especially if "payment on site" is chosen as the payment method, and also if the booking is guaranteed with a credit card and cannot be cancelled - so it is my own fault. But the best thing is that even though I had declined the alternative accommodation, the hotel apparently tried twice later to debit money from my credit card.
