Scandic Hell

Stjordal Municipality|2.11km from Stjordal Public Library
I recently stayed with my family at Scandic Hell for one night at the end of my one week holiday in Norway. I had stayed at one of the Scandic hotels in Stavanger on my first night in Norway, and my experience was great. That is the reason why I decided to book Scandic Hell. However, it turned out to be a big mistake. The day I checked in happened to be one of the warmer days in a Norwegian July. The front desk staff gave us a room facing west, without AC. I only found out later that there are rooms with AC but I was not given the choice. They offered me a small fan (which means this is a common problem) but even after using it, it was impossibly hot due to the west sun, I went to talk to the front staff again to ask for a AC room, and it only then would they give one to me. The next morning, our flight was at 8am. Their full breakfast starts at 7am. And they also placed some simple cereals on the counter. We went down there early hoping the restaurant would open early. While waiting, my son took a yogurt from the counter and a few packs of cereals, because we were not sure whether we would have sufficient time to have the full breakfast. When the restaurant finally open and we were going to go in, the front desk staff came over and told us we could not eat at tte restaurant while having packed some cereals. He also used Norse to speak to the restaurant staff so she would watch us. I totally don’t understand this kind of rude behaviour. At the end we left without eating at the restaurant, I also wanted to post three postcards, and asked the same front desk person, and he said NO, only to be pointed out by his colleague that the cards already are stamped and it’s easy to send along with their posts. If someone is looking for an airport hotel, the SAS Blu is connected to the terminal which is much better. Scandic is 600 m from the airport but there is no side walks leading to the airport, unless you have a rental car.

Well located with its own free parking space. Rooms are not very big, but the hotel is cost-effective. Service was good/super nice and friendly. Breakfast was included and very good. Overall, I can recommend the hotel.
