Found this place just searching the web, just liked the look of it. What a find!! Rooms modern and well equipped, but the character of the rest of the premises shines through, it was established in 1703. Wonderful friendly staff, Anastasia, Amarillia and Paul shone through! Always smiling and very professional, top class! The breakfast was lovely, and a really nice variety of choices. As far as food went though, the evening meals were superb. Should have a name for itself on the food alone. I had a steak first night, and steak pie the second, both meals were lovely. The chocolate chilli pave on the pudding menu also a real treat. Will definitely return here for a visit, loved the atmospheric bar area while eating as well. Oh, and another thing, the local “just the ticket “ ale from the local Fallen Brewery came recommended by Paul, and did not disappoint 😊

I stayed at the Cross Keys as a base to travel to Stirling 10k run from. The room was cosy with nice decor and had everything you need. Service was good and the room was good value for money. The shower was powerful and towels absorbent. I slept like a log although next rooms bathroom fan was quite noisy. There is a pub underneath but any nouse didn’t go on till late. The only thing that detracted from my stay was breakfast. I was told breakfast was maybe off due to boss/breakfast cook having a delayed flight then later on told breakfast was on. However when I went down for breakfast, cooked breakfast was off then on after I’d finished my cereal and banana. This was stressful and not ideal considering I had the run the next morning and there were no shops open in Kippen in the evening. Not sure what the issue really was, a bit odd!

Following a recommendation from a local that we met walking about 10 miles away -we’d commented how many places in Scotland only seem to sell lagers and no real ales. We visited the Cross Keys 3pm Sunday- The only pub where we found proper real ales on offer! Warm, inviting a traditional pub with a super cosy fire Whilst we didn’t eat as the kitchen had just closed the food that we saw people having looked amazing and by all accounts was. Sunday afternoon, usually open all the way through as there was only us left, finishing our drinks. The landlord said not to worry and let ourselves out(staff still there) see pic! Overall a cosy, inviting friendly proper pub that we would revisit to taste the fayre- and of course, for a real ale

We stayed overnight on our way up to the Isle of Mull. Staff were very accommodating for us all, including the dog who was a bit over excited for his first stay anywhere. Rooms were lively and comfortable. Food both evening and breakfast were fantastic. Highly recommended.

Loved everything about my stay, from the room to the meals, from the location to the staff. Looking forward to a return visit. Was made to feel very much at home from beginning to end. Especially appreciated accommodation of a late departure.

Worst place ever, made even worse by the owner. Arrived Saturday afternoon after taking my my wife for chemo. Owner was drunk and not very welcoming. Came down for breakfast on Sunday and was asked, by the owner, "your not down for breakfast yet" ? I want to be made welcome, I wasn't, I was asked to cancel *********** so he could not pay commission, we were told at 8.45 on Sunday evening that the bar was closing, by the owner, maybe because he was sober and his rich, elitist friends weren't there. Won't stay here ever and won't recommend it to anyone, EVER. We eventually went to The Inn At Kippen. Amazing staff, made welcome and if they had a room I would pay for it. Also, I know it's a dog friendly environment, couldn't enjoy my non seasoned meal without the resident dog stealing food from our plates. No way would I recommend this place. Oh!!!! You have to change the carpets,,,, nasty!!!!! And if *********** don't take this arrogant individual off the site, there truly is something wrong!!!!!
