We had a wonderful stay in the Red Maple self catering lodges at Forest Hills. The lodges were very spacious, clean and well equipped. The decor was cosy and quaint with a nostalgic feel. Beds were comfy and the view was stunning. We used the spa each day and the children loved the swimming pool, table tennis, play area and pool tables. The children also enjoyed picking a film from the dvd list at reception each night. Staff throughout the whole complex were pleasant and helpful. We received a very warm welcome when we arrived and throughout our stay. Stunning location and access to local mountains to explore. I was worried when my husband booked this as a surprise due to the previous reviews I had read but please ignore them. Forest Hills is a quirky, comfy and tranquil resort with a wholesome charm. We will be back.

In a quite delightful location, this Hotel on reflection is undoubtedly a wedding venue, and in that I would suggest it worthy of consideration. For us we were bed and breakfast guests for one night and although the accommodations were most comfortable and the catering very good ably provided by mine host Jas, the facilities mainly were quite large and more befitting the wedding venue status. The staff were most friendly and certainly helped make our stay. The dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious and we commend the cooking skills of Jas.

The room was clean and warm slept comfortably except for the room noise above us creaking floorboards and heavy feet at 3am. Warm welcome friendly staff. We were part of a coach group for Xmas, breakfast was really good plenty of choice. Evening meals, the food served was good quality but there was a lack of vegetables and portions were small, children's portions are usually larger. Christmas Dinner was not good, soup, main course again lack of vegetables two small slices of rubbery turkey, and a very thin slice of Xmas pudding. But the same evening there was a buffet meal which was exceptional, plenty of choices and plenty of it, so this made up slightly for the Christmas dinner. Our stay took in Edinburgh and Glasgow and we also had a nice walk into the village of Aberfoyle although being Christmas day everywhere was closed, but it was enjoyable and the scenery lovely. Overall our stay was good and the entertainment was also good. Just a shame about the potions at dinner.

Outstanding
GGuest UserThis is a small boutique hotel classified as ‘rooms with restaurant’ and sited in a quiet conservation area that is probably one of the most affluent residential parts of Stirling. The hotel is constructed of local sandstone (in the Georgian style) and boasts large windows, high ceilings and other features you’d expect - clean, quiet, and comfortable. Rooms were warm, spacious and our sleep quality was excellent. In fact, all the staff couldn’t have been more helpful all the time we were there. Nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed lovely breakfasts as well as dinners in the attached restaurant. I liked the menu - where you could have a set meal at very reasonable prices if you wanted. Chef had prepared a very impressive lemon dessert designed for people with diabetes and I saw vegetarian and GF options listed as well. The wines were nicely selected too, and knowledgeable staff helped match with our courses very well. There were six parking spaces and behind the hotel and plenty of on street parking. Wi-Fi worked well for us in our rooms as well as the dining and drawing rooms downstairs. We did notice some dust at high level on the first day (I’m 189 cm in shoes so it’s easy for me to reach shower rails, door jambs and other dust traps), but this can be an issue with period houses and the team quickly fixed it. Our room was serviced daily and sparkling clean after that. Overall, the hotel offers a tranquil break in a superb location - convenient to the castle, golf course and other attractions along with great walks and views. Close to main shopping, cafes, and recommended local restaurants such as Hermann’s and The Indian Cottage. Well worth a stay and a meal if you are in the region!
MMasa8432I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but it was higher than expected after checking in.
First choice, there are hundreds of years old houses nearby, very emotional, turn left 50 meters up is an old prison, 100 meters from the Internet is the church, and 200 meters away is the castle
Secondly, the cleanliness of the room is also good, there is no peculiar smell.
Then, in terms of facilities, there are swimming pools, hot spring pools, and saunas. The general level of breakfast is three stars, because no cheese is provided.
Finally, the service is also good. When you check in, you can enter the license plate to guarantee two-day parking, and everything else has reached the four-star standard.
GGuest UserAbsolutely immaculate inside and out, cannot fault the facilities for cleanliness. However on trying to book i was unable to book with 1 breakfast and it came uo 2 albeit i was on my own. The breakfast for the price was a massive let down, as it was my first trip i didn't really know what to expect but did expect something hot and plentiful. Nope - I am a vegetarian - so unless i anted a cereal or a banana... The choice was sausages, bacon eggs beans. \for me it was slce toast and cornflakes... glass juice. I'll take my own next time. Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.
GGuest UserThere are supermarkets and gas stations nearby, free parking, plenty of parking spaces, very convenient. Stirling Castle is very close, 10 minutes' drive. We arrived at Glasgow Airport early and arrived at the hotel at 11 o'clock, but we were not allowed to check in early, so we had to leave our luggage at the front desk first. We had been on a flight for more than ten hours and wanted to go to the hotel to take a good shower and take a nap before going out to play, but this hotel was unwilling to let us check in early.
AAnonymous UserGood hotel with great central location and easy access to lake and campus. Good transport links to city with bus. Could do with a face lift in places and perhaps an expansion of the breakfast offering.
GGuest UserThe environment is beautiful, with large lawns and landscapes, and the room facilities are comfortable and satisfying. There are restaurants and shops on foot, and parking is convenient
GGrace BGood central location. Friendly staff. Reading other reviews I think it depends which room you get. Our window wouldn’t open and we could hear a noise like water pipes or tank banging at 5 min intervals all the time and through the night. The shower was scalding hot 1 minute, freezing the next. Plug holes and under bath taps were just disgusting. As were the ledges and silicone round the bath and behind the bathroom door. Pricey for the state of the bathroom. The beds were fine. Not sure if I would stay here again.
LLanThe location is perfect. On the half hillside, the castle is going up. Going down is the place where the commercial street eats. The hotel room is relatively spacious and relatively new. Parking is free. The female front desk on the day of the stay was very friendly and very welcoming. I also said that I saw the Chinese credit card for the first time and felt very good. However, breakfast, originally done very well, half buffet, half-meal, good quality, that is, the price was told at the time of check-in, if you add two people 15 pounds on the spot, I also confirmed it because I felt cheap. As a result, the check-out received 19.8 pounds. The gap is not big, but when the argument is different, the front desk of the next day does not confirm it, and it directly denies it. The perfect experience was deducted from the next day's female front desk.
