It was a rainy day—what better way to spend it than in a hotel with a wellness spa? After browsing the website, it wasn’t clear how to book a day at the wellness. It only showed prices in combination with hotel stays, so I called. Unfortunately, the hotel had an automated answering system in charming but hard-to-follow Italian, with no option to speak to a person. We decided to just drive out and hope for the best. The beautiful 40-minute drive from Trento to Grand Hotel Terme di Camino made it worth the risk. On arrival—even in the rain—the hotel looked even better than in the pictures. Stunningly set between the valley and nature. We were warmly welcomed at the front desk and allowed to pass through for a day at the wellness. There too, we were pleasantly helped and lucky they had space. The booking included lunch, dinner, and full use of the wellness facilities. Lunch was decent—hamburgers with white wine. A bit like an upscale barbecue. The staff started off a little formal but eventually opened up for a more relaxed and fun interaction. After lunch, we explored the wellness. The grounds are impressive, especially the indoor-outdoor pool—swimming outside in the rain was pure bliss. Some saunas were cooler than indicated, which took away from the authentic sauna feel. Luckily, we found two that were hot enough to enjoy properly. Some drains had an odour—likely from skin buildup. (Pro tip: baking soda and washing powder fix that.) Despite these small details, it was a relaxing, enjoyable wellness experience. We wrapped up the day with a very satisfying dinner—a perfect end to a surprisingly delightful day.
