Just fabulous. From the welcome (with the obligatory glass of local wine), through the complimentary wine tasting (do you sense a theme?), to the spa and the room with the most amazing view… just wonderful. The staff are so very helpful, and the location stunning. Thoroughly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Mark and Mary are friendly and welcoming hosts. The grounds are well kept and the oblution block/wash up area is clean. The camping areas are beautiful. Our Yorkie had a great time camping with us. Will visit again.

Top-class facilities and service in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley. The wines are also excellent, and I recommend a wine tasting when visiting.

Sarah on check in was adorable - informative but also impressionable, lovely lady - couldn’t fault our room 23, breakfast ladies were amazing, perfect omelettes every day, along with mimosas and sunshine on the outside terrace, can’t wait till we return.

Mont Rochelle was excellent in every way, from the pick up at Cape Town Airport onwards. The staff could not be more helpful, even in helping us to avoid a noisy convoy of 4x4 drivers. Our Merlot suite was simply stunning, peaceful, well appointed and with stunning views. Our meals at breakfast and dinner were delicious. The private wine tasting with Effort, who cleverly paired the wines with specific chocolates, was a great showcase of Mont Rochelle’s wines. Thank you for a wonderful visit

The host was very helpful and gave us some inside information on what to do in the neighbourhood. We stayed for a few nights. Unfortunately, we had some trouble with the electricity almost every night. This wasn’t a big problem out of itself, since there were spare LED-lamps we could use and there was a gas furnace. However, it also meant the boiler didn’t turn on and we didn’t have any warm water to shower. All in all we enjoyed the stay, but thought this to be quite the nuisance. The rooms are a bit cold going into winter, but they have some electric heaters installed.

Lovely hotel. Great setting. Good food. Overall good service - especially reception and the drivers that drop you into town for the wine tram or if you are eating at local restaurants - that the hotel will also help you with. We stayed in a Cabernet room that has a lovely view and outside seating. Gym and pool is good. Nice little town, with lots of good restaurants, a museum and of course the wine tram experience. We did them all together with the complimentary wine tasting and chocolate pairing at the hotel. The Miko wines are their best and decent. The hotel Miko restaurant is ok - good food - albeit wine was expensive and it lacked atmosphere when we were there as it was quiet. We ate there just once and used other local restaurants (that you may need to book in advance - the orangery is very good but needs booking). I have knocked 1 star off the review as there were some lower level maintenance issues in the room (sticky doors, and a wobbly towel rail), and having sat poolside for an afternoon no-one was manning the pool bar (fair enough as a low / shoulder season) but no-one bothered to come down from the restaurant area to check if we wanted drinks (and another couple was also there). I just think, in a hotel of this quality and cost, it does question the management attention to detail and this should be expected and was seemingly lacking given these points.

My husband and I traveled to South Africa with 3 nights in Cape Town and 2 in Franschhoek. Mont Rochelle is easily one of our top favorite hotels we’ve stayed in around the world. The backdrop of the mountains and the entire grounds are stunning. The entire property is impeccably clean, and the staff just so delightful. Peter, Charles, Tobene were all so great to connect with. Peter has the most contagious energy, so bright and full of life, along with Siya. He was our driver to and from the main town. X (not sure of his full name) was our driver to and from Cape town. We appreciated X and Siya's openness, sharing about daily life, and history of the townships nearby, along with notable historical and cultural information that we found interesting. I know I’m forgetting some names, but every single person at Mont Rochelle should be given an employee award. That also goes for our masseuse. We had the couples Soul of Africa massage which was the best massage we’ve ever had! Exceptional experience. The breakfast at Miko and wine tasting at the Country Kitchen are highly recommended. They even had gluten free options, and gluten free bread! I was so surprised by the box of gluten free cookies provided in our room, complementary! Overall we loved it here so much that we are plotting on how to return. The town is so quaint, safe, and the food amazing! Of course, the wine is too!
