Thalassi Hotel

My 4th time at this lovely friendly hotel. My friends and I were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It has such a personal touch especially by the fact we were taken by Dimitri to his local village for lunch making our stay extra special. Can't fault the food both at breakfast and evening meal - authentically Greek and very tasty. The rooms are spotlessly clean. A big thank you to Dimitri, Eva, Anthony,Michael and Stefi. The hotel is so well run by Eva and Demitris and Stefi. The hotel was spotless and the breakfast offering was huge and delicious. Their restaurant is a 7/8 minute walk or short shuttle with Pablo and the views from the restaurant are spectacular. You can get around Crete with a very efficient bus service and bus stop a few minutes from the hotel. What really set this hotel apart from many is the hospitality. Demitris cares about all of his guests and as I was travelling solo, he always made sure that I was with other guests at dinner if I wanted to be. He is passionate about his hotel and his restaurant and wants everyone to have the best time. Eva (his wife) is similarly caring and I came away feeling that I was part of a very special extended family. I met many guests who return year after year and I can see why. ❤️

The hotel is lovely and clean, although the same tablecloths were on for the whole week we were there. Not a great choice for breakfast but you'll find something. Pool area is nice, with piped music all day. Steph who works at the bar is lovely, sharing her birthday cake with everyone who was sitting at the bar. Our room was nothing like the ones in the photos. It was big and spacious but old and worn, especially the shower. Extra charge for air conditioning, 3 euros per night. Not very good .Our room was on the ground floor in a block behind the main building. We felt we could not leave our patio door open of an evening because any member of the public could walk in because of the side road next to our room. Do not be fooled by the photos of the restaurant and the quality of the food. You are only allowed seats by the sea if you are going al a carte. And the food shown is a la carte. For the hotel guests we were served greek food (which I love) buffet style. The owner walks around telling you "best food on the island." It was bland and cold. The nail in the coffin was when it was chicken nuggets and chips ( not a child in sight). Dessert was watermelon or jelly every night. The area the hotel is in, is run down and close to nothing.

Our litmus test for any hotel is ‘Will we choose to return?’ YES, we will! Hotel is comfortable, well maintained, clean and the proprietors and staff are all friendly, helpful and kind. Our room was modern and spacious, the bathroom had quality fixture and fittings and the balcony overlooked the pool area. Breakfast buffet was substantial with a good choice of hot and cold dishes. Evening meal at the Thalassi restaurant - overlooking the bay - was freshly cooked, nutritious and delicious. Very many thanks to Dimitri, Eva and the team - We’ll be back next year!

Our room was beautiful and very comfortable. There's a lovely pool area was plenty of sun loungers and a bar serving lunches, snacks and drinks. We went half board. The buffet style breakfasts at the hotel were wonderful. Dinner is served at the hotel's restaurant by the beach and the food is excellent! There are more sun loungers by the restaurant and each afternoon of our stay we went down to the beach and walked in the sea - bliss! The owners, Demitris and Eva and all their staff were amazing. They made us welcome and looked after us very well. We highly recommend a stay at the Thalissi!

We stayed for 10 days. The hotel is clean and the rooms very spacious. Eva Dimtris and Antony nothing was to much trouble always there with advice and help. Dimitris was a wonderful host in the restaurant, catering all diets and was very proud of his establishment
