A huge disappoin**ent. Poor communication leading up to our vacation - that should’ve been our first sign of what was to come. Our staff coordinator failed to communicate that our flight was arriving too late in the day to go to the island so we had to last minute find a place to stay in Nassau and pay for a night on the island when we couldn’t even go there. Arrived on the island to find everything in varying degrees of disrepair. Nothing met the standards of what one would expect at this price point. For example, soap provided in bungalow was a bar of caress soap without a soap dish, phone didn’t always work, golf cart we were assigned was broken with no working lights, room has no place to put luggage, zero counter space in bathroom, drain never worked properly even though we asked for it to be fixed, room leaked water. Food was lacking. Often times we’d place an order for food and it would just never arrive. Be prepared to wait a long time to order food and receive food. Fruit delivered for morning breakfast was often inedible. No food menus in room. We tried to order room service and that proved impossible. When we could find staff to help us, they were all very kind. There was a random broken down golf cart on the side of the road our entire stay. We also almost got in a wreck with a golf cart with staff because road not lit and both our cart and staff cart didn’t have working lights. The one shining star of the trip was the dive team. I’m sure in its heyday the island was a magical place. It saddens me to see the current level of disrepair. Staff are aware and do their best to do what they can, but the issues are beyond them. Billing was all kinds of wrong, but based on our experience thus far we suspected there would be problems and were prepared to go line by line reviewing charges. This shouldn’t be the case since we selected for our trip to be all inclusive. Take your money and vacation time elsewhere. You are essentially paying thousands and thousands of dollars to go on a fairly primitive cabin camping trip. There is nothing luxury about this resort other than it’s on a private island.

Our 7th time on Kamalame and it never disappoints. A perfect escape from everyday life. We stayed in a South Beach Cottage, had the best view. Outdoor shower everyday. Long walks on the beach and relaxing pool time. The staff really make the resort even more special. Ten in the dining room is just the best, Samson and Shannon by the pool as well as Tamara. All make Kamalame a really special palce

Kamalame Cay is one of the most vibesy, beautiful and perfectly curated experiences of my life. Staff was incredible: smart, well spoken, kind and on top of every detail, the room was beyond beautiful and it was perfectly landscaped at every corner. The hosts David and Michael make you feel just like that: hosts to the most beautiful home. They are warm and inviting and create connections across guests. We made real friends!

Run by an amazing couple with exquisite hospitality, this is a heavenly oasis—luxury resort meets secluded paradise. Hidden on a private island, it boasts pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and gorgeous villas where time stands still.

Had the most magical weekend ever! Place is absolute paradise, David and Michael were amazing. It really felt like you are on private island but could interact with guests at your leisure. Food was delicious. Can’t wait to go back. Vacation of a lifetime.

I was a bit nervous after reading the reviews recounting burgled rooms, stolen golf carts, no hot water, garbage strewn beaches etc etc. I am pleased to report that I saw none of that. The beach was beautiful and beautifully deserted (there was some small controversy about not enough loungers in the North beach cottage area, but I did my best to ignore it). Food is tasty, especially the daily specials (the base menu doesn't have much variety so when there is no special as happened a couple of nights, the pickings can be slim). The staff couldn't be warmer or nicer, and if things happen on island time, that's ok, as they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to take care of you. (You need to not be rushed though - you will need to say what you need over and over again in the restaurant - and it took 9(!) calls and 2 in person visits to get coffee pods for the coffee maker, but service is always with a smile when it comes. The beach cottages are lovely and comfortable, if lacking the qualities of a "luxury" resort - there are no robes in the rooms (a real shame when the deck is so nice to sit on), no tables on the aforementioned decks, no place to put your toiletries except the top of your toilet. But the cottages are spacious and clean, and the beds comfy, and if housekeeping does not consistently come either for cleaning or turn down or to refresh towels, some of those things will happen on some days during your stay, and that is probably enough. I always had a lot of hot water. The spa is great! Again, not fancy, but great massage in a beautiful setting. If you want to chill in a relaxed isolated setting with incredibly kind staff, this is it! If you need true luxury or consistent amenities/service this is not it. I will almost certainly go back (bringing my own robe and maybe my own coffee pods!) just for the setting and the staff.

We had wedding rings, jewelry and cash stolen from our rooms the last night we were there. Stay vigilant at all times. It might be a beautiful resort but there’s nothing scarier than having your personal items gone through and stolen while on vacation.

Lovely place, great food, beautiful scenery, gorgeous villas, great hospitality and if you are there on a weekend when they have the beach party luncheon, don’t miss out. In fact next time i go i will plan to be there on one of those weekends, it was a lot of fun.

We’ve been very frequent guests at Kamalame Cay for many years. The staff have become family as have the other frequent guests. There is something magical about this Cay. Whether it’s the lionfish under the dock that you can hunt if you’d like under Joey and Anna’s watch. Or it’s the stingrays that you float over while paddling in the mangroves. Or could it be the giant face sized orange and red star fish or sea stars (based on where you are from). Could it be the bonfires on the beach where you could make new friends for life? Or the stars above every night where Orion’s Belt and the Milky Way feel present in your soul days after you’ve seen them. Perhaps it’s the rain storms that while aren’t frequent feel like they are part of you and their beauty off shore is connecting you to nature? We travel to Kamalame as a family with 4 children, as friends and as a couple. It’s heaven. We slow down when we arrive and life takes on a different very welcomed pace. The sea is clear aqua translucent like in the South Pacific. And you have freedom at Kamalame to explore at your own pace. Lucky those that get to discover its magic. Slow down when you get there - take the books, drink the David’s special (hot tip add in a little chinola if you are a passionfruit fan like me) and always order the curry! Walk all the walks and ask where the kingfisher nest is in the mangroves and spend time with Joey and Anna who know all. If so inclined try the luncheons which are all day riotous affairs of fab wine and food pairings.
