Dionysos Apartments & Studios

Hard beds . Air con in lounge but not in bedroom meaning had sleep with windows open. On a main road so 24,/7 noise . No toaster or grill very basic self catering facilities had travel size kettle on top fridge/freezer. Decent bathroom &shower . Nice pool &bar &outside areas . Nice snacks. All ground floor Verandahs didn't seem get any sun . Nice reception if needed leave luggage /wait for transfer but no air-conditioning or fan so very hit. Good selection books in reception to read/borrow.. No one to meet us or tell us where to get key when arrived bar &Reception all shut everywhere in darkness..

Stayed for 2 weeks Amazing place chilled and quiet, pool was lovely, and can always get a sunbed. Apartments run by an amazing Greek family who can’t do enough for you Food was lovely and BBQ night a must ! All drink and food prices reasonable Will hopefully return

We stayed at the Dionysos in July / August 2019. The rooms are basic but very clean. The beds are hard but not unbearable and we had to use a big hair clip to hold the shower head in place. Other than that, we had everything we needed for an enjoyable 2 week stay. Our room was in the main building with the pool. We ended up getting a room on the ground floor, literally next to the swimming pool. There with pro's and con's to this. Although it was very convenient to the pool bar and pool area and meant that we could sit on our patio (as no balcony) in the shade and have our own drinks and not have to buy as many at the pool bar (which did save money), there was no privacy and no sea/mountain views (just the pool, and other people's twoel First of all, as other reviewers have mentioned the staff at the hotel are fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. That goes from the cleaners through to the owners. Alex and Anna deserve a special mention. Our air conditioning broke on the second morning and this was quickly fixed by the hotel, getting an electrician to sort it out. During our stay, a couple of guys came off their quad bike on the road just outside the hotel. Alex was out like a shot and helped them out. Fortunately, they weren't badly hurt. There is a BBQ every Sunday evening at 8pm (15 euros Per Person) which was nice. From looking at some of the photos in the hotel lobby, it looks like there used to be some Greek dancing with the guests afterwards but there was no entertainment on our night, which was a shame. Negatives -------------- A big bug bear of mine is the reserving of sunbeds with towels at 6am in the morning and then not using them until after 12pm. This has gone to another level this summer. Some people were reserving beds for the whole of their holiday!! One family of nine permanently pegged towels on sunbeds for all of their holiday. They never moved day or night which was around a quarter of the available sunbeds. Incredibly selfish and such negative behaviour didn't help with the ambiance / friendliness around the pool. There were only 4 parasols for around 40 sunbeds. The hotel could do with getting a few more. There didn't appear to be any communal shower facilities in the hotel. The ones in the downstairs toilets were out of action. So for those on late flights, I'm not sure where they could get washed. Stalis ------- It's a 15-20 minute walk into Stalis, which has lots of restaurants to choose from. It was a lot quieter than I remember when I last visited. If you have young children, I'd recommend buying a crepe from "Super Mario" who puts on a show which is worth the cost of the crepe itself!

My wife and I stayed at the Dionysos Apartments during an 8-day trip to the beautiful Island of Crete in mid-May 2024. We had previously stayed here in May 2016, when the apartments were owned by a different family. We always do a little research on trip advisor and other websites prior to booking, and we saw that the Dionysos Apartments had availability and been taken over by a different family, the reviews looked good, and we knew the area so booked up straight away. The main Stalis area (bars & majority of restaurants) is a nice 10-minute walk along the ocean front. We booked a double bed apartments with pool view. The big double bed along with the pillows were extremely comfortable and the apartment was more than big enough for the both of us and the AC was good. During our 8 days stay the room was cleaned every other day and the towels and the bedding were changed regularly. There was a TV in our lounge area, but we didn't switch it on so can't comment on channel availability or languages available. Please note that for some reason it is the norm in Cretan accommodation for there to be no shower curtain place, resulting in the bathroom floor becoming soaked. This is Crete wide and not just at the Dionysos. We felt both comfortable and safe and the whole studio was impeccably clean as was everywhere in and around the complex including the immaculate pool area. The pool (9am - 8pm / kid friendly) and surrounding area are impeccably clean as is the well-stocked bar which is open from 9am until the last person leaves. Drinks are reasonably priced as is the bar menu (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and the outside eating area is a great little social meeting place. Sunbeds and umbrellas are free to use and there is more than enough to go around for all residents. We had everything we required from a self-catering apartment and if there was something we needed or advise required then we only had to ask Eli the owner or one of her family members (mum, dad, sister, husband) who help run this small family business. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay, yes, the accommodation is basic, but if you want 5-star accommodation, you're going to have to pay 5-star prices. At the Dionysos you get clean, basic, well-maintained accommodation in a beautiful little complex with a fantastic Cretan friendly family feel at a fair price.

We have just spent 10 days here..alls I can say is it’s fantastic ❤️ the room we had was perfect & very clean.. The pool area is lovely with lots of sun loungers. The bar/kitchen is defo a 10/10, Anna & Alex really are the best, nothing is too much trouble for them..they really are an amazing team..😍 if you want a lovely chilled holiday in stalis but not in the middle of busy stalis then I’d really recommend the Dionysos without a doubt..👍🏼

These apartments have just been taken over in May this year by the host Eli and her family. Our room was spacious we stayed in room 14 on ground floor. Grounds and pool area kept spotless by hard working staff, we love the beach so did not eat at the apartments but all food cooked by Eli’s dad Alexandra and looked lovely. My wife and I would not hesitate to stay here again. All the best Eli and family for the future.
