Just returned from a 12 night stay at Dias with my family of 4. This was our 6th time in Stalis, each visit staying at different accommodation. Overall we were satisfied with the accommodation. It is very clean and the staff are friendly and efficient. We liked the location which was very quiet, but it may not be suitable for people who don't have the mobility required for the 20 minute walk to/from the resort centre. The hotel has a nice bar and a decent menu for food and drinks during the day. The bar stays open later into the evening and, even though our room overlooked the pool/bar area, we were not disturbed by noise at all. There is free WiFi throughout the premises and we found it reliable throughout our stay. The pool is small and sunbed space is limited. That said, we tend to spend most days at the beach, so it wasn't a problem. We managed to get space by the pool on the few occasions we tried. The rooms are very comfortable and a good size. However, I do not believe that this is a genuine 4 star establishment, by Greek or any other standards. Some of the fit and finish within the rooms is looking a bit tired. The doors on the kitchen units are misaligned and a bit worn. The bathroom drains are very slow and often overflow onto the floor. The shower enclosures are in need of replacement and the grouting and sealant in the bathroom could do with being re-done. These are small inconveniences, and I would not have mentioned them at all were this marketed as a 3 star. Before booking here you should be aware of the extra costs. Air Con is chargeable at €10/night for one unit, and €15/night for 2 units. Air con is absolutely essential during the Greek summer. The Greek tourist tax (durability fee) is €7/night/room for 4 star accommodation. The safe is €2/night. Overall we paid €280 on arrival for these extras. Just after half way through our holiday (Thu) one of the air con units broke. We were given a fan and assured that the maintenance man would fix it the following day. The room was so hot that night we were unable to sleep and had to cancel an arranged boat trip the following day. It took 2 days for the maintenance man to arrive and he couldn't fix it as it was a Saturday and he needed parts. We were offered a move to a similar room which we accepted. There are many good points about this establishment, but the extra costs and trouble with the air con put something of a dampener on the experience.
