The town has a beautiful and clean environment, and the hotel is very close to the shuttle. Because I drove to Springdale from Las Vegas, it was already late at night when I arrived, and there was no one in the lobby, but the staff put my room card in an envelope and posted it on the On the glass door of the lobby, and told me to check in first, and then check-in the next morning. The rooms are a bit of a log cabin decor. The parking space is free and can be parked until 4 pm on the day of departure. This is the first small town on our journey. The hotel is backed by mountains, very beautiful and quiet.

The hotel is still under major renovation! No sign for customers to identify the property and the lobby is very makeshift with shabby breakfast bar (I would even say it looks more like snacks for the construction workers, not for hotel customers. See the picture ) The room was full with paint smell which is not great for sensitive people. I had to find another accommodation because this is unacceptable. And even the front desk told me they’ll refund my room but they insisted to charge me the cancellation fee. They only send a message two days before arrival saying we’re under renovation—which is totally underestimated!! THIS PROPERTY SHOULD NOT ACCEPT ANY CUSTOMER BEFORE THEY FINISH THE RENOVATION!!

DO NOT BOOK! HOTEL CLOSED FOR MAJOR RENOVATIONS! We booked a one night stay at Pioneer Lodge months ago for 4/16/25. A few hours before my arrival at the hotel, I checked TripAdvisor and found a concerning post and photos from Arden L warning people about Pioneer Lodge undergoing major construction! (Thank you Arden L for posting that!) Her post prompted me to call the number on my confirmation email from the hotel; I believe this may be a third party since they asked me which hotel I was calling about. They found my information and informed me that an email was sent a few days ago at 2:28pm that my reservation was cancelled because the hotel was undergoing renovations and that the hotel refunded me. The representative wouldn’t tell me the exact date the email was sent but I requested her to resend the email since I was unsuccessful at finding any recent emails from the hotel. Then, we got disconnected. I got the re-sent email and I remembered getting the original email (however it wasn’t a few days ago; it was only one day before my arrival!!) and thought it was junk mail. Please see the 2 emails sent by the hotel the day before my arrival and you’ll see why I thought it was junk mail. Due to this hotel’s lack of consideration for guests, poor communication, and confusing last minute email, we ended up frantically rushing to find another hotel on the day of, and paid $200 more per night than what we had intended. Checked my credit card and I do see a pending credit. Fingers crossed that it goes through smoothly.

When we arrived and exited the car, there was a horrible sewer smell. Went into office and was greeted by a man who checked us in. The office closes at 10:00 pm so you can't get anything til after 730a. The hot tub was permanently not working. The pool was open if you want to swim in algae. The icemaker was not working and we were told to go to gas station. The "breakfast included" was a brown bag with an apple and yogurt and some unrecognizable sandwich. The parking lot was super tiny and could hardly get in or out. The room didn't look terrible other than: There was make-up on my pillow. The mini-fridge in room was completely iced over. There was a note not to put a/c under 70 or it would freeze up. A vent in bathroom was hanging from the ceiling. This place isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination. Spent 1 night in our clothes with suitcases zipped in case of bugs - even tho I didn't see any. Left in the morning. It was like a "no tell motel".

The Pioneer Lodge was a great accommodation to hike, trek and visit the Zion National Park. Right in Springdale, they are within walking/shuttle distance of the trails, restaurants and shops. While the rooms are basic, they are comfortable and clean. We were a party of 6 and booked the 3 bedroom apartment type accomodation. We had a living room area and full kitchen. It was nice to enjoy breakfast in our room and some dinners. There is a pick-up breakfast available in the lobby, but we opted out given we had a kitchen and were credited. There is also a coin based laundry room which is helpful. The pool was not open when we were there (late April).

I was really excited about staying in a historic building that is a motel now. We liked the rustic furniture in the room. However, staying in a historic building should not mean foregoing modern amenities. We had a broken window taped together and a big crack where the door didn't fit the door frame. Because of this, the A/C unit struggled to keep the room cool. There were record high temps while we were there, but neither one of the ice machines worked. According to reviews, they haven't worked for a while! Unacceptable! There were ants in the room and mold above the shower and near the floor where tile was being used as a baseboard. I saw baby cockraoches crawl under the fridge. It was older, but they tried to update some things. It was conveniently located near restaurants and shops. So, while their were good things, the bad things will be what we remember. The best part was a daily visit by a mule deer buck who ate the leaves off the ground and trimmed back several bushes.

The ac units don’t work well at all. The room stays hot and stuffy, we weren’t able to get very good sleep. Our door has a good inch opening from the ground that possibly added to the heat and welcomed bugs in, we found 3 large roaches. Wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t suggest it to friends and family.
