Downtown Spokane
We flew into Spokane for a nice long road trip to explore this part of the USA. This hotel was where we stayed for a few days at the beginning of the trip, and we liked it so much that we returned there for the final night. It is in a primo location. A castle up on the hill with beautiful sunsets. We had planned to stay nearer to the airport on our last night but we liked this hotel and the location worked out well. The rooms were very very clean and the staff were nice and helpful. We had a little problem with the refrigerator in the room, they immediately sent maintenance to replace it. Breakfast was good, basic HIEX done well, they were keeping it clean and fresh. We chatted with the lady staffing the breakfast, and she was really nice and friendly. Nice little balcony overlooking the river, there were hotels on the river but this one is across the road. The location, up on the hill, so pretty. It’s got nice landscaping and some fragrant flowers planted near the front door. Parking was not a problem until that final night, the hotel was full and we were lucky to find a place right by the door. They bake fresh cookies every night and have them available for free at the front desk, really nice especially during these crazy times. Will stay here again when we return to the area. It was easy to walk to our car rental place, about a mile away.

Ramada by Wyndham Downtown Spokane

I have reported this incident to the hotel many times with no attempts at resolution including to the front desk twice, four times to corporate, and posts on Facebook and Twitter with 80 shares. Clearly they want to ignore this and are not willing to address the danger faced by women staying at this hotel. Beware if you care about your safety! ***TRIGGER WARNING*** On Saturday March 13, 2022 at around 2:30am, a male staff member named Alex working at the Ramada Inn Downtown Spokane used the universal room key to enter my hotel room. I was asleep and was startled awake by the sound of him at the foot of my bed. I saw his shadow looming over me and I started screaming and yelled, ”Who is that? Get out of my room.” He yelled back, ”No one's supposed to be in this room.” He went back to the doorway and held the door open while he yelled at me and demanded that I leave. He said the room wasn't paid for and that I needed to leave immediately, in the middle of the night. I was shocked at the abruptness of his demands and explained that I had arranged with the front desk earlier that day to extend my stay for a second night. In fact, my assistant and I had talked three times to the front desk about extending my stay after the rest of our group left. He rudely replied that I hadn't completed the paperwork and thus had no right to be here. He again demanded that I leave and that he would collect my things. He said the rest of the ”refugee group” left earlier and that I was no longer welcome. He blamed me for this situation because I failed to sign paperwork despite being told twice by Katie at the front desk that I could take care of this later. I felt unsafe after he had been in my room so I handed him our nonprofit's credit card and said the card should already be on file but just run it again. He refused the card and said that was not an option. He seemed to determined to see me leave but then took a deep breath and said, ”I will let you stay the rest of the night” if I came downstairs now to sign paperwork and process the payment - as if he were doing me a favor by not throwing me out of the hotel. I didn't really want to leave my room at this point but I finished getting dressed and followed downstairs to finalize the transaction. When I arrived at the front desk, he was looking at the computer file and it seemed to me that he finally noticed something that indicated my story was accurate because his tone finally softened. He said, ”since there seems to have been a misunderstanding on both sides, I'm giving you 50% off for now.” First, there was no misunderstanding on my side and second, there was no apology. I requested contact information for his manager to report the intrusion and he refused, saying I could talk to them in person in the morning. At this point, I was just eager to get back to my room and signed the credit card transaction. I tried to get back to sleep but that was pointless. I was completely rattled by awakening
Apple Tree Inn

They paid to remove my review from here as well. This hotel is a den for illicit activity. We went during very strict restrictions as we were moving from one town to a next. The internet claimed it is a quaint inn, but in reality, unmasked people came up to us and tried to see what we had in our moving truck. The room was filthy, the walls, paper-thin. The whole building smelled like smoke, and they did not issue us a refund even though it clearly is not what was advertised to us. This is not a safe neighbourhood, this is not a safe property, and when I went to get something from my car, there was a man with sunglasses staring at me, with his window rolled down, and he would not stop. This is a den for illicit activity, they were not compliant with COVID rules when the pandemic was at its peak. This is before vaccines were even available. We were literally afraid for our lives. Again, I could not leave a review on the site where I booked with them because they cancelled my booking, but still refused to give me a refund. So, they probably filled the room with somebody who was too desperate to know any better. Opportunistic, bad hygiene, certainly violating many laws and regulations. Please please please shut this place down.
Hampton Inn Spokane

Having stayed at around 100 Hampton Inns -most of which look very similar - I was surprised to see the design of this one. It was quite unlike other Hamptons I had visited. It’s located near the airport (I didn’t hear any planes) and close to the city. Huge car park. We were on the final night of our long (4,500 miles) road trip so it was great to get a nice friendly welcome, hassle-free check-in, comfortable beds in a good room and a clean hotel. The breakfast was good and the same area holds the restaurant in the evening (whihc I have reviewed separately- I didn’t like it). I would stay here again.
