Absolutely fabulous little place with great staff . Only comment we had and addressed at time was the size of the bed just so anyone over 5ft 7 isn’t disappointed . I had upgraded to a deluxe room however the bed was a standard double .but apart from that a little gem serving delicious food as well .

Our stay here was without fault from start to finish. Ten out of ten for service, food quality, standard of rooms and friendliness. The best place to stay in the area by far, I’m delighted that my usual place was full which led me here. The breakfast was top draw too.

We had the most delicious sunday roasts here as a family, all having different dishes. All were cooked to perfection and the sides were also perfect and generous in portion. Service from ness was excellent and atmosphere great. Would thoroughly recommend.

When we arrived at the Star Inn ( that is myself and my husband), we were immediately welcomed by a staff member. Once we were booked in, we were shown to our room with en-suite, which was in a refurbished barn at the back of the pub. It was perfect for our two night stay. It was warm, clean and comfortable. There was bottled water, sparkling and still and a selection of teas and coffees for refreshment. We were booked in for an evening meal at the Star Inn restaurant. The tables were lightly dressed with placemats, cutlery and sparkling glasses. There was background music and warm lighting to give a lovely ambiance. Both our meals that we ordered, were divine. For starter, I had roasted beetroots and butternut squash, Kidderton Ash goats cheese mousse, orange and watercress salad. My husband had: duck leg confit terrine, plum chutney, celeriac slaw with toasted bread. Both meals were beautifully presented and they were tasty! For the mains, I had Sea Bream Fillet, potted shrimp dressing, tarragon poached potato gnocchi, green beans, shellfish bisque. My husband had: slow cooked beef cheek, smoked cheese crumb, horseradish mash, red onion marmalade and broccoli. Again both meals were excellent! The next morning, we both enjoyed a full cooked breakfast with quality ingredients, especially the black pudding. We did not book dinner at The Star Inn on Saturday evening as we ate at another restaurant, but on Sunday morning, my husband could not resist another full English however, this time I had porridge which was accompanied by a fruit compote and peanut butter. I have never had these together before, a delicious combo. Throughout our stay, the team of staff that we met were attentive, perfectly communicative, lovely and were a pleasure to meet. I would love to book a stay at The Star Inn again one day. This was a real treat.

We came across The Star simply because we needed one night's accommodation in the area. What a lovely surprise. A warm and friendly welcome, a beautiful and spacious bedroom , with an ensuite which included a simple to use, efficient walk in shower. Easy access to the bar and restaurant..... and wow what a restaurant. Nice ambience, spot on service and brilliant food and wine at a very reasonable price. We have no hesitation in recommending The Star and also its house gin ' 25 Yards', but please don't drink it all because we will be back !

This was the first time I had visited The Star since the new ownership and was really impressed with greetings we got on entering. The staff were friendly and professional and looked after us throughout the meal. The food was excellent, well presented and above all else it tasted great. The wines and beer that accompanied the food were just what was needed. The pub itself was looked after and made you feel at home as soon as you entered. I would like to thank the staff for making it such a memorable experience.

What a wonderful country pub. Stopped not knowing what to expect but was wonderfully surprised. Erika was absolutely amazing. Attentive friendly and wonderful with the children. There wasn't anything that she wouldn't do for us. The food was amazing, fresh, full of flavour and so delicious the children cleared their plates and have even talked about the food the following day. Highly reccomend the Lamb burger and sweet potato fries and the children's clean plates would reccomend the naked fish and chips. Well worth a visit. Fine dining at its heart.

This a is a nice clean hotel, with very nice rooms which allow dogs. However, I stupidly believed that ‘dog friendly’ referred to every aspect of the hotel (as it has ALL others we’ve ever stayed at). It only refers to the rooms and not the bar or restaurant, when we booked our table we were told that dogs weren’t allowed - where they expected us to put him is unknown. They then said that we could eat with the dog as long as we sat outside! God help you if you stay there during the colder months!! We cancelled dinner as we thought it was stupid and went to a dog- friendly pub in town instead. They did find room for us in the morning, for breakfast, but only because I made a fuss. Breakfast was beautiful! Please make it clear on your site, the pet restrictions.
